Lesson for the day: Time. Not distance.
-----------
A couple years ago a neighbour gave me the book on the left. "Be IronFit"
In my training last year I gave it a good read. It's fairly old so some of the stuff is outdated but there was some useful nuggets of education in there.
I think the biggest thing I took from it was to focus training on time. Not distance.
So instead of saying "I need to run 5km today". It was " I'm going to run for 20 minutes today"
There seems to be a common belief that 5km is the only available option when running and from there you must go straight to 10. Doing anything else would be insane and not to mention what Strava would have to say about it!!!
Running for a time is a far more mentally manageable thing.
Get out for 10 minute runs for a few weeks. Then increase to 15 minutes. Then, if you want to build and see your fitness improve, increase in 5/10 minute increments.
Time is a far more mentally manageable factor than distance and it was something that helped me massively last year in my training.
Food for thought.
Have a nice day and we'll see you soon!

A Base Fitness member was in Florida for the Easter holidays and upon seeing the calories on the menu, immediately thought of us.
Which is nice to hear.
Nice to be thought of. π
(no one has nightmares about us do theyβ¦?! π€)
Anyway, what I like most about the menu is that at the bottom of the page it says that 2000 calories is the daily recommended amount.
Yet most of their items are around that number! One Monte Cristo sandwich and thatβs you done for the day!
Good thing it was just a holiday. You can splurge then. π
But food is a big part of the health and fitness game. Got to keep an eye on whatβs going in!
Now. Iβm off to have a cookie.
See you soon
