Report: Newton Road Runners Cat Gaskell 10k
Well done to the 7 Harriers who braved the rain and forecast wind to run at the Cat Gaskell 10k at Newton on Saturday 23rd October.
Whilst wet, thankfully the worst of the wind managed to stay away until after the finish, although the cool down back to the car park was brutal!
1st Harrier home was Iain MacLean. Whilst 90s slower than last year, given the conditions Iain was reasonably happy with his time of 42:28 which was good enough to place him 1st v60 🥇
Next home was Andrew Higgins, whose time of 43:18 was not reflective of his current form as Andrew is managing a small injury with his Malaga marathon only 2 weeks away.
Cameron Harris, racing in club colours at a club event for the 1st time, managed a 3 minute PB (44:27), sneaking ahead of
Julie Beveridge (44:33), who finished 3rd v40. This after Julie ran the 3k race immediately beforehand with her niece!
Deane Devine was next Harrier finished with a 3 minute PB (45:03), followed by Robert Gibson (50:17).
Louise Higgins, also in training for Malaga (1/2 marathon) finished in 1:08:47 which coincidentally was exactly the same time to the second as last years GSR 10k!
Well done to all the Harriers for some fantastic results in such poor racing conditions!
Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers at Newton Road Runners for arranging such a fantastic event and for supporting the runners throughout the course in such wet weather. Thanks also to David McNulty’s Running Photography for the excellent photos.
