We're delighted to be holding a prize draw for Young Squash Champions Volunteering Award (YSCVA) participants - with the draw taking place on 1st July.

Silver and Gold Champions at the time of the draw will have a chance to win one of two European Team Championships tops, signed by Georgia Adderley and Rory Stewart.

If you know a young person that is volunteering in squash, why not encourage them to sign up for the YSCVA and work towards certificates and rewards for their efforts.

All participants that complete a survey (sent by email) before the end of June will help to improve the award - and be entered into a draw with the chance to win a pack of squash balls and a Scottish Squash lanyard!

"Why do LGBTQ+ sports clubs matter?"

It's a question we sometimes see on social media, so we asked Sam and Holly ahead of the Edinburgh Curveballs Open Squash Tournament this weekend.

💬 "If you’re going to start a new club, that’s already a scary prospect, so if you have one thing in common, that makes everything a little bit easier."

💬 "Being accepted and finding like-minded people, allies, and safe environments to discover and be freely yourself is so important for anyone - especially for those in minority groups."

They also told us why they love squash, what Curveballs means to them and, in Sam's case, how joining the club gave him the confidence to compete in the East of Scotland Squash & Racketball League!

When Atif stepped off the plane in Scotland, he knew that he had been keeping a part of himself hidden for most of his life.

Joining Edinburgh Curveballs helped him to find an accepting community, a sport he loves, and family.

💬“I’ve never felt as similar to others as I do with the Curveballs.

“This is one of the few communities that I have ever been part of which has given me the opportunity to accept myself – not just who I am, but also how I present myself to others.”
