Lesson 5 : assumption.
I thought I had an idea of what the warning noise was trying to tell me. I’d filled my Valmet with diesel the day before, so I immediately ruled that out.
My mind went straight to hydraulic oil.
I’m plagued with leaks at the moment.
Turns out… I’d simply run it dry.
It’s funny how assumption can replace curiosity. The machine doesn’t care what I think I know. It only responds to what true.
Thankfully, another lesson of humility as I’ve only just embarrassed myself.
I suspect it won’t be the last mistake.

A reflection of today is slight embarrassment mixed with joy. We’ve typically brought 20’ shipping containers into the UK and we’ve secured our first 40’ container.
My milestone this year was 16 additional people producing timber for themselves and their communities and that goal is becoming likely.
Year on year we will aim to make sure that local timber is no longer an afterthought.
