Match Report:
Our under 12s hosted their new local derby in the Hull league Bridlington Town Rovers and it was a glorious morning for grassroots football with the September sun shinning all morning.
Filey Town started on the front foot and had Bridlington camped in their own half and were peppering the goal with multiple shots that were only going wide, over the bar or saved by the goal keeper.
Bridlington were finding some joy breaking the high press and had a few counter attacks that the Filey Town defence dealt with through concentration, great tackling and positional awareness.
Filey Town almost broke the deadlock with Freddie Coutts-Lawson when the ball broke for him, however the sound of the bar rattling was pretty much the last sound of the half.
The second half started just as the first half and in the 33rd minute, goal keeper Matthew Eblet saw Freddie in space and played a long ball into his path, which Freddie quickly got under control and finished clinically.
7 minutes later, Freddie was also in the right place in the right time after intercepting a loose pass from the Bridlington keeper and hit a thunderous strike into the far top corner to everyone's amazement 🚀.
Another Filey wave of attacks brought a very unlucky shot across goal saved from Harry Thompson that Noah Tindall was quick to react after following the shot to slot home to make it 3-0 in the 42nd minute. Not long after the the goal, Bridlington showed character and a never giving up attitude and chased down a long ball and dispossessed the Filey defender which the Filey goal keeper, at full stretch could only parry to the Bridlington striker whom was ready to pounce.
Filey showed real endurance and a winning attitude, adding 2 late goals, 1 from Freddie to complete his hatrick and the final one with 2 minutes to go from Harry that shot hard and low from the edge of the box into the bottom left hand corner.
Well done to Bridlington Town Rovers for their effort and great attitude.
