There's a noise you start making somewhere in adulthood.

Nobody teaches it to you.

You bend down to pick something up. "Ooooft."

You get out of a low chair. "Urrrgh."

You drop something on the floor and wonder if you even need it anymore.

At some point, getting your shoes on becomes a minor sporting event.

We laugh about getting older, and some of it is funny.

But the stiff knees, the sore back, the "I can't do the things I used to"- none of that has to be the end of the road.

You don't need to become a gym person.

No Lycra. No protein shakes. No watch cheering you on for standing up. (I have one of those.)

You just need to keep using the body you've got.

That's what we do at Carrick Activity Centre in Dailly.

No transformation required. No pressure. Just move a bit more, feel a bit better, and have a laugh doing it.

Come in and see us this week. Your knees will thank you. Probably with a noise.

And if you made a noise while getting up after reading this, we heard you. 😂

The money leaves anyway. £20 doesn't sit in your pocket for long.

It's a takeaway for two. Two streaming subscriptions. A couple of coffees and cake. One of those "I only popped in for a few things" supermarket trips. 😄

None of it wasted. It all goes somewhere.

But here's where £20 could go instead.

For £20 a month, right now, you can become a member of Carrick Activity Centre.

A place to move more. Get stronger. Build the fitness that carries you through everything else you spend on.

So maybe the better question isn't what £20 buys.

It's what your health is worth to you each month.

Noticing a few things creeping up in price lately? The heating. The fuel. The weekly shop. Prices only seem to go one way.

And they don't stop at the leisure centre doors.

So if you've been thinking about joining, this might be the moment to stop thinking. Lock in your membership now at today's £20, and it's one less thing to watch climb.

Come in while £20 is £20.

And if you're wondering what actually goes on in here, we've put it all in one place:

https://carrickactivitycentre.co.uk

Have a look around our new website.

Then come and have a look around the centre for real.

We're open M-F, 2-8 PM and Sat,10-1 PM. CLOSED Sundays.

In two years, either the stairs get steeper, or you stop noticing them at all.

Right now it's only a trace. The top of the garden leaves you a bit more breathless than it used to. You get up from the sofa carefully, and you don't remember when that started. Nothing worth seeing a doctor for. Just the body letting you know, very quietly, which way it's heading.

Two years from now, that trace has either become a habit you carry everywhere, or it's gone.

Gone is the woman who walks up the stairs with the washing basket and doesn't think about it. Gone is the man who digs his own garden and gets his breath back by the time the kettle boils. Gone is the version of you who doesn't slow down a little at the top, pretending to look for something.

None of that arrives by luck. It arrives by showing up somewhere once a week.

Same house, same you, same two years. The stairs are going to be there either way.

Come down to the Carrick Activity Centre one afternoon or early evening this week and see which way it goes.

We're open 2-8 M-F, Sat 10-1. CLOSED Sundays.

You've fed everyone your whole life. But nobody's ever asked what you're hungry for.

So you keep doing it. Sunday roast, Monday laundry, Tuesday the same again. You run the whole operation, and somewhere along the way you stopped being a person with needs and became the person everyone else leans on.

Your needs didn't disappear. They just got parked, somewhere between everyone else's

Here's the part nobody says out loud: you don't fix this by hoping for a quieter week. The quiet week never comes. You fix it by deciding that the woman who keeps this family running is worth one hour of her own week. Not leftover time. Time she takes first.

Because you don't look after people this well without being someone who deserves looking after too.

That version of you is closer than you think. One hour away, actually.

If you're new to Carrick Activity Centre, enjoy your first circuit class on us. Try it tomorrow, Monday, 6:30pm. Your pace, your level, a room of women who started exactly where you are now and stayed because it worked.

Come as you are. Leave a little more yourself.

It rains 300 days a year in Dailly (or so it seems). So walk inside.

Walk on a treadmill. Walk while it pours. Walk to blow off steam. Walk to solve a problem. Walk to listen and learn. Walk to escape the wind. Walk to warm up and cool down. Walk to get moving when you can't get outside. Walk because the treadmills are already waiting at Carrick Activity Centre.

A simple indoor walking habit can change absolutely everything.

What's stopping you?

Maybe you haven't been in a gym for twenty years. Maybe you'd stare at half the equipment and not know where to start. Maybe you're sure everyone else in there will be fitter than you.

Or maybe you've driven past Carrick Activity Centre a dozen times and never had a reason to find out what's actually behind the doors.

All fair.

So here's an idea: come and have a look around.

No workout. No commitment. No need to decide anything. See the place, meet us, ask the daft question that probably isn't daft at all. Then go home and think about it. Or don't.

And before you ask about prices, times, or what to expect on your first visit, we're just finishing the answers for you. A new website is landing next week, built around the questions people actually ask us, including a few they're too embarrassed to say out loud.

But getting more active shouldn't start with a sales pitch or a waiting game for a website.

Sometimes it just starts with walking through the door.

We're open M-F 2-8 and Sat 10-1. Closed Sundays.

So, ... what's stopping you?

You're not starting from zero.

You carry the shopping in. 💪
You lift the grandweans. 💪
You dig the garden, haul the logs, walk the dog up the brae. 💪

Your body already knows how to move weight.
Coming here just does it on purpose.

You don't need to be strong before you arrive.
That's what arriving is for.

Pop in and ask at the desk. Having a look round is allowed. 😁

We're open M-F 2-8 and Sat 10-1.

You don't need a team before you come.

Turn up on your own, and we'll find you one. Bring a mate, and you're already sorted.

That's how the Badminton club runs here.

Nobody expects you to know everyone.

You just say, "Is there room for one more?"
There usually is.

The awkward bit lasts about five minutes.
Then you're just one of them.

We're on tonight as usual, 6:00-7.30 PM. We have spare rackets you can use if you need one. 🏸

£5 per person, or if you're already a Gym member, it's part of your £20 monthly fee. 😁
