AND THE RUGBY SEASON IS BACK! 🏉

What a way to kick off the new rugby season! 🔥

Our teams were back in action this weekend, showing plenty of determination, teamwork and passion for the game. 💪🏉

⚫️⚪️U10s
The U10s were away to Old Richians and came away with a fantastic 22–3 victory for Matson! 👏🔥

⚫️⚪️U14s
The U14s welcomed Weston Hornets to Redwell Road for a seriously close encounter! 🏉
It went right down to the wire, with Weston Hornets eventually taking the win 26–24. A fantastic effort from the team! 👏

⚫️⚪️🔴Matson/Spartans U15s
The U15s welcomed Chosen Hill to Redwell Road. They battled hard throughout but unfortunately finished on the wrong side of a 26–12 scoreline. 💪🏉

🏉 Coach Wanted – Matson U9s 🏉

Matson U9s are looking for a fun, enthusiastic coach to join our team!

We have a great group of 8 U9 players who are excited to continue their rugby journey, make friends, have fun and, most importantly, learn the ropes of the game.

We’re looking for someone who can bring energy, encouragement and enthusiasm to the role. You don’t have to be an experienced rugby coach — this could be the perfect opportunity if you’re:

🏉 A parent of one of our players
🏉 Looking to take up a new hobby or interest
🏉 Passionate about helping kids learn and develop
🏉 Someone who simply loves sport and wants to get involved

You’ll be helping these young players build confidence, learn rugby skills, work as a team and enjoy being part of the club.

No coaching experience? No problem! Support and guidance will be available — we just need someone with the enthusiasm and commitment to give these brilliant youngsters a great rugby experience.

🏉 GREAT NEWS… GIRLS RUGBY IS GROWING AT MATSON RFC! 🩷🖤🤍

As girls’ rugby continues to grow across the country, we’re proud to be launching our Matson RFC Girls Development Squad for girls aged 8-10. (From Year 3 onwards)

This is all about inspiring the next generation of female rugby players in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.

Whether your daughter is already part of the Matson family or has never picked up a rugby ball before, we’d love to welcome her along. No experience is needed – just come and give it a try!

Pre-season training starts Sunday 26th July at 10:00am at Matson RFC, Redwell Road.

We welcome all players from U6s to U15s, whether you're returning for another season or looking to give rugby a try for the first time.

Come along for fun, fitness, new friendships, and to develop your rugby skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed coach to join our rugby team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help young players develop their rugby skills, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy the game in a fun and supportive environment.

Previous coaching experience is welcome but not essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, good communication skills, and a passion for helping children learn and grow through sport. Coaching qualifications and safeguarding training can be supported by the club.

If you would like to make a difference in the development of our young players and be part of a great rugby community, we’d love to hear from you.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our U12 Matson RFC youth team achieved the fantastic accolade of winning the Tiger Challenge Championship last weekend!

The team, along with U8-U11 sides, traveled to Butlins Minehead to compete against teams from all across the country, with over 30 teams competing in each age group at various venues around the town.

An unbelievable achievement from a group of lads who showed heart, determination and togetherness from start to finish, beating some of the best teams from England, Wales and Ireland along the way. 🌍💪

From the huddle on the pitch to lifting the trophy under the lights… moments like these are what grassroots rugby is all about. The hard work from the coaches, parents and players is paying off in style.

The future’s looking very bright for this team. Up the black & whites! 🖤🤍🐯
