🏉 Matson RFC Mini & Youth Rugby Pre-Season Training 🏉

Pre-season training starts Sunday 26th July at 10:00am at Matson RFC, Redwell Road.

We welcome all players from U6s to U15s, whether you're returning for another season or looking to give rugby a try for the first time.

Come along for fun, fitness, new friendships, and to develop your rugby skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed coach to join our rugby team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help young players develop their rugby skills, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy the game in a fun and supportive environment.

Previous coaching experience is welcome but not essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, good communication skills, and a passion for helping children learn and grow through sport. Coaching qualifications and safeguarding training can be supported by the club.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our U12 Matson RFC youth team achieved the fantastic accolade of winning the Tiger Challenge Championship last weekend!

The team, along with U8-U11 sides, traveled to Butlins Minehead to compete against teams from all across the country, with over 30 teams competing in each age group at various venues around the town.

An unbelievable achievement from a group of lads who showed heart, determination and togetherness from start to finish, beating some of the best teams from England, Wales and Ireland along the way. 🌍💪

From the huddle on the pitch to lifting the trophy under the lights… moments like these are what grassroots rugby is all about. The hard work from the coaches, parents and players is paying off in style.

The future’s looking very bright for this team. Up the black & whites! 🖤🤍🐯

This weekend Matson minis and juniors have travelled over to butlins Minehead for the the tigers challenge and rugby tour.

🏉 Matson RFC – Where rugby begins! 🏉

What a proper grassroots rugby Sunday! 🏉🌧️

Today our mini section U7/U8s, U9s, U10s and U13s took on Widden, and the weather definitely decided it wanted to be part of the match too. From the first whistle to the last try, the pitch was a sea of mud, heavy underfoot and hard work for every single player.

The conditions really tested everyone. Running became slogging, passing became guessing, and every tackle meant picking yourself back up covered head to toe in mud. The ball was slippery, boots were stuck, and energy drained twice as fast but the effort never dropped.

It was also great to see our U11s and U12s down supporting the teams after the Land Rover Cup was cancelled. Having them on the sidelines cheering everyone on really added to the club spirit.

Despite the rain and heavy ground, the determination from all age groups was fantastic to see. Players kept going, supporting teammates, adapting their game, and showing real resilience. Days like today build tougher players, stronger teams, and the best memories.

A big well done to all our minis and thanks to Widden for great games played in true rugby spirit 👏
