Every belt in karate represents far more than a change in rank—it reflects a different stage of personal growth. As students progress through the ranks, the challenges they face begin to change. In the early stages, the battle is often against fear, uncertainty, and the difficulty of learning something new. Later, the struggle becomes one of consistency, patience, and overcoming frustration when progress feels slow. As experience grows, new obstacles emerge, such as controlling ego, managing expectations, and maintaining humility despite achievement. By the time a practitioner reaches the advanced levels, the greatest challenge is often not learning more techniques, but continuing to improve while avoiding complacency. This is why belts are meaningful symbols in karate: they do not simply measure skill, but also the lessons, setbacks, discipline, and character developed throughout the journey. The true story of a karateka is not written in the color of a belt, but in the battles they overcome while earning it.

You all showed great effort, discipline, focus and determination throughout. Grading day is never easy, but every single student stepped up and gave it their all.

2nd part of the weekend fights

Fight Night Results 🥊

Freddie was first up tonight. Got overpowered in the first round, but showed real character—composed himself and came back strong in rounds two and three. Unfortunately, a couple of point deductions for clinching and kneeing cost him the decision. Still, a solid performance and he did us all proud 💪

Millie was next. Came out sharp, stuck to the game plan we’ve been drilling, and did exactly what she does best. Took the win by split decision—personally felt it should’ve been unanimous, but we take the win all day 👊

And now millie is the new ISKA English champion

Proud of the whole team as always. The work in the gym is showing.

First up young calan. Was ahead on pts first round and then 2nd and 3rd lost his range a bit and got a learn

Dan falako had close hard fight. Won with his early strong shots landed

Millie weighed in for tomorrow's ISKA English title 59.2kgs. Time to refuel
