Did you know? Goggles can help swimmers feel more comfortable, but they aren’t essential for learning to swim. In fact, becoming confident with a little water on the face is an important part of building water confidence and safety skills.

Are you heading abroad this summer? ☀️
Holiday pools can be exciting for children, but unfamiliar surroundings, deeper water and distractions can quickly become risks if little ones aren’t closely supervised.
Swimming lessons help build confidence and important water safety skills, but nothing replaces active supervision from parents and carers around the pool.

A common kicking mistake we see in swimming lessons is bending the knees too much.
Big bicycle-style kicks might feel powerful, but relaxed, smooth kicks from the hips are what really help swimmers move efficiently through the water.
Smaller, controlled movements often lead to better balance, body position and confidence in the pool.

Water play is often where real swimming confidence begins.
From splashing and blowing bubbles to chasing toys and jumping in, playful moments in the water help children feel relaxed, curious, and more comfortable in the pool.
When children are enjoying themselves, they’re often learning without even realising it.
That’s why we recommend parents to encourage their children to play in the bath, and get to the pool between lessons where possible.

“Why do instructors repeat the same skills each week?”
It can sometimes look repetitive from poolside, but repetition is a really important part of learning to swim 😊
Children build confidence and muscle memory by practising skills regularly. Whether it’s blowing bubbles, floating, kicking, or jumping in, repeating those movements helps them become more natural and controlled over time.
We also know that every child progresses differently. One week a child may complete a skill confidently, and the next week they may need a little reassurance again, and that’s completely normal.
Repetition helps turn “I can do it sometimes” into “I can do it confidently every time”.

❌ Myth: Swimming lessons are just about learning strokes.
✅ Fact: Great swimming lessons also build water confidence, listening skills, independence, safety awareness, and resilience.
For many children, learning to feel calm and confident in the water is just as important as perfect technique.

There's nothing better than hearing a child looks forward to every lesson 💙
Small class sizes, supportive instructors, and growing confidence in the water make all the difference.
