🎾 A massive milestone for Henley Tennis Club 🎾

This weekend we ran and hosted our first ever LTA-sanctioned junior competition at — welcoming players from across Oxfordshire and beyond including Halton, Bisham, Caversham, Haddenham, Abingdon and Bradfield.

With 8 boys and 8 girls competing, the standard of tennis, attitude and sportsmanship throughout the day was outstanding 👏

Spectators were wowed by the quality on display, and to top it all off, Futures Squad player Max Mortimer won the boys’ event 🏆🔥

🎾 What a fantastic way to sign off the year for our juniors! 🎾

Our U12s finished top of their Oxfordshire Youth League group, earning a place in today’s final against the winners of the other group, Horton Cum Studley. It was a tough away fixture for Henley, coming up against a very strong team.

Representing Henley were Max Mortimer and Owen Ashton, each playing a singles match before pairing up for doubles.
💪 Max dominated his singles 6–1, 6–0
🔥 Owen followed with a hard-fought 6–3, 6–4 win

Going into the doubles, the boys showed incredible character, coming from behind in both sets to take the match 6–3, 7–5!

An outstanding result and a brilliant contest. The boys showed fantastic teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect throughout, representing Henley impeccably. Huge congratulations to Max and Owen on a well-deserved victory 👏

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a wonderful festive break 🎄🎾

🎾 Oxfordshire County Youth League – U8 🎾
A brilliant day for Henley Tennis Club with two teams competing and showcasing fantastic tennis throughout!

Henley 2 – Huge well done to Juliet and Elliot in their first ever event, winning most of their matches and showing amazing promise. 🌟

Henley 1 – Finished 2nd in the group, beat Peppard 3–0, then defeated Wychwoods in a tense semi-final thanks to a clutch win from Sammy! 🔥

In the final, Finley, Seth and Sammy pushed reigning champions North Oxford all the way, falling just short in a thrilling finish. Incredible effort from the whole team. ❤️💛

The courts were full of juniors competing, learning and supporting each other, with smiles all round. This new session, part of the My Sports Pro Match Club programme, is quickly becoming a highlight of the week. 🎾
