Over the years we have built a reputation for providing a first class venue for everyone in the town and beyond to enjoy their rugby. From mini members and their parents to our successful womens team, to our semi-pro Hawks outfit, we are a club that is built on clear foundations of contribution to the local community, where everyone is welcome and enjoys a good time. Henley's floodlight Dry Leas g

round on the Marlow Road boasts one of the finest pitches in the country, with many representative matches played there such as recent Under 21s World Cup. In addition to a gym and our state-of-the-art 4G pitch, Invesco Turf there is a well appointed Club house with bar and catering facilities for events small and large. Barely a stones throw from the river, Henley Rugby Club reflects everything one might expect from the world famous regatta town of Henley on Thames. The club maintains a fully inclusive playing structure covering the broad spectrum of a contemporary rugby club and has around 700 members. There are currently 5 adult teams, including women's, and 12 junior age group teams for U7s to U19s. There are around 400 mini/junior family memberships each year. The 2012-13 season was the senior team's, the Hawks, most successful for many years. In front of a record crowd of 3270 they became league champions playing the flowing rugby they have played all season. As league champions they were unbeaten at home, scored a record number of 185 tries, were the highest points scorers at over 1200 and had the best defensive record in the league. Henley Rugby Club is strongly town focused, from those that play for us to the parents of minis and juniors. In the rugby season over 2000 per week use the facilities and we also support many local Henley events. We have strong connections with other sports clubs in the town, cricket, rowing, hockey etc and are members of The Henley Partnership. We also have strong commercial links to local businesses many of which sponsor and support us in a variety of ways. We are proud of the support we receive from our primary sponsor and commercial partner Invesco, the major employer in Henley. Along with our other sponsors Altrad Generation, Savills, Bremont, G.D Evans Interiors, Loddon Brewery, Southern Plant and up to 50 local businesses including retailers, pubs, restaurants etc.

Henley Rugby Club has announced it will this year support Huntington's Disease Association as its charity of the year.

Following a vote by the committee, the charity was chosen to support member, Dave Hancock, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2023. Dave has been a member of the club for over 30 years, as a juniors coach, match commentator, member of the Friday Club and loyal supporter. Two of his sons played for the club from the age of 7, with one going on to be a Hawks team player during his gap year.

Huntingtonโ€™s Disease is a degenerative neurological condition which affects the bodyโ€™s nervous system, causing loss of coordinated movement and affecting speech and mental capacity. There is a 50% chance of inheriting the disease, which has a huge impact on families affected. The charity provides support to those with the condition, and families affected by it, as well as funding research into treatments and a potential cure.

Ben Hancock, one of Daveโ€™s sons who is driving the fundraising, said: โ€œWe are so grateful that the rugby club has chosen to support this cause, which is so close to the whole family. We want to raise as much as we can to help fund the research that is needed to help find a way to cure this disease and support all those who are affected by it. It is a relatively rare condition, so this will also be a great way to raise awareness of what it is and the help that is available. If you would like to support us in any way, we would love to hear from you โ€“ we will be looking for auction prizes, match sponsorship and ways to engage everyone in fundraising throughout the year.โ€

Chris Nixon, Henley RFC Chairman said, โ€œWe are delighted to be partnering with the Huntingdonโ€™s Disease Association as our Charity Partner for the upcoming 2026/27 season. There are many people at the club who know Dave Hancock and are aware of what he has to contend with, but he does so with incredible bravery and always with a smile on his face. We want to support this charity to raise both awareness and vital funds to help those living with Huntingtonโ€™sโ€.

The official start of the year of fundraising will begin at the first match of the season on 12 September when the Henley Hawks play London Welsh at Dry Leas rugby ground in Henley. There will also be special charity days on Saturday 17 October for the Hawks v Old Albanians match, and on Saturday 12 December for the Hawks v Barnes match. There will be an auction at the pre-match lunches and a collection taking place during these matches, as well as other fundraising throughout the day.

Events will then take place during the year, at various matches, to help raise as much as possible. Donations can also be made by speaking to Alistair Beynon, Commercial and Marketing Director, at [email protected] or call 07769 715541.
