Our sessions bring together active games, beginner fencing skills and fun challenges for children aged 5–12. Progress looks different for every child, and beginners are welcome.

🤺 **ANOTHER FANTASTIC SCHOOL ASSEMBLY!** 🤺

What a brilliant response from the children at **Loudwater Combined School**!

Following another fantastic interactive fencing assembly, our upcoming taster session is now **completely SOLD OUT**, and we’ve reopened a limited number of places on our after-school fencing programme.

One of the best parts of taking Aston Fencing Academy into schools is seeing the reaction when children discover a sport that many of them have never had the opportunity to try before.

Our assemblies aren’t just about standing at the front and talking about fencing. They’re **fun, interactive and designed to get the whole school involved**, introducing children to the sport, the equipment, the history and, of course, the excitement of fencing. ⚔️

Our **FREE school fencing assemblies** are available to primary schools interested in introducing something genuinely different to their pupils, whether that leads to an after-school club, breakfast club or simply gives children the chance to discover a new sport.

Fencing is fantastic for developing **confidence, concentration, coordination, discipline, resilience and decision-making**. It can also be a brilliant option for children who haven't necessarily found their thing in traditional team sports.

Aston Fencing Academy now runs a **four-programme development pathway across the school year**, allowing children to progress from complete beginners and continue developing their skills throughout the year.

🤺 **What an amazing start to the week for Aston Fencing Academy!**

We have now delivered our first sessions at both Holmer Green First School and Loudwater Combined School, and the children were absolutely brilliant!

They arrived full of energy, listened incredibly well and threw themselves into learning something completely new. Most importantly, they all seemed to have great fun!

We also delivered a fantastic whole-school assembly at Loudwater today. The enthusiasm from the children was incredible, and it was wonderful to see so many of them excited about trying fencing.

If your child does not attend one of these schools, they can still join the fun at our community sessions in Penn & Tylers Green.

They can try their first session for just **£5**, with no previous fencing experience needed. It is a great opportunity to build confidence, coordination, concentration, fitness and discipline while learning an exciting Olympic sport.

5 things I think some children's sports providers still get wrong.

Having worked with hundreds of children over the years, I've noticed a few things that can make a huge difference to whether a child falls in love with a sport, or never wants to come back.

1️⃣ Making winning more important than enjoyment.

2️⃣ Forgetting that every child develops at a different pace.

3️⃣ Focusing on mistakes instead of celebrating effort and improvement.

4️⃣ Not communicating enough with parents about how their child is progressing.

5️⃣ Forgetting that confidence often matters more than technique, especially in the early years.

The reality is that most children won't become elite athletes, and that's absolutely fine.

If they leave a session smiling, feeling more confident than when they arrived, having made new friends and looking forward to next week, that's a huge success.

The sporting skills will come with time. A love of sport starts with the experience.

🎉 Exciting news from Aston Fencing Academy! 🤺

I'm absolutely delighted to announce that, from this September, Aston Fencing Academy will be delivering our 10-week Junior Fencing Development Programme at Holmer Green First School, with another local primary school set to be announced very soon!

To have two local schools embrace the programme so early in our journey is something I'm incredibly proud of, and I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us so far.

Alongside our school programmes, bookings are now open for our private after-school classes, held every Thursday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at Penn & Tylers Green Village Hall.

Our 10-week programme is designed for children aged 5–12 years and provides a fun, structured introduction to fencing. As well as learning the skills of one of the world's oldest Olympic sports, children develop confidence, coordination, focus, discipline and decision-making in a safe and supportive environment.

To celebrate the launch, we're offering an Early Bird price of £120 (normally £150) for bookings made before 20th August.
