🎃👻 WHAT A SPOOKY END TO OUR HALF-TERM CAMP! 👻🎃

It was all very spooky at our half-term camp, with lots of spooky goings-on!

We had games of Mummy Wrap, Chase the Monster, Pumpkin Tug of War and much, much more! But the highlight of the camp had to be our rearranged Coach Maria v Coach Mags match, alongside our new match for our younger players, Coach Keria v Coach Maya! ⚽

🏆 COACH MARIA v COACH MAGS

The message was simple for both teams: HAVE FUN... BUT GET OUT THERE AND WIN! 🤭😂

Coach Maria's team looked to be in a comfortable position until literally the last five minutes of the game, when Coach Mags' team managed to find the net a couple of times!

This made for a very entertaining, but rather nervous, final few minutes as both teams battled to be crowned the winners!

Both teams played brilliantly, and you could see the passion and determination from everyone to get their hands on that very special cup!

And the winners were... 🥁🥁🥁🥁

COACH MARIA! 🥳🥳🏆

Despite Coach Mags trying to sneak an extra player onto the pitch and the referee clearly being in Mags' pocket by adding a few extra minutes 😂, Coach Maria and her team finally walked away with a 4-3 WIN!

WHAT A GAME! 🙌

We finished things off with a penalty shootout, which ended in a draw! ⚽

Meanwhile, over on the other side of the ground, we had another fantastic battle taking place!

COACH KERIA v COACH MAYA

There were goals galore, with both teams giving it their all and finding the back of the net plenty of times!

But there could only be one winning team, and it was Coach Keria and her team who came out victorious! 🥳👏

❤️ AND THAT'S A WRAP FOR OUR CAMPS THIS YEAR!

It was such a brilliant way to finish what has been another fantastic year of camps.

As always, we have had so much fun organising and running these camps, and none of it would be possible without the amazing people who help make them so special.

There's a spooky weekend in store and our Swans will no doubt be screaming for the ball, ghosting past opponents and showing off plenty of tricks and treats.

It's an eeerily quiet one at Mill Lane across Saturday and Sunday, but there could still be fireworks...

This weekend's fixtures throws together a match-up between our U9s and U9 Warriors and there's eight other teams in action too.

Best of luck to all our players and families who are involved, we can't wait to see how you get on.

It was another great performance from our U7s last weekend against Arley Kings 🦢⚽️

We talked before the game about staying on our feet and how this may help us defending, instead of leaving our teammates a man down as you're still on the floor. And I'm really amazed the lads all took that on board, which lead to a really mean set of defences in their 3s.

That's not to say they didn't attack with their usual flair and verve because there was some great football being played and some wonderful goals! Well done Swans!

Parents' Player of the Week
What a turnaround from this player after a tough week last week. He was all over the pitch. Putting in a true man of the match performance by dishing out meaty challenges, passing well and creating space for his teammates, and scoring at least one amazing breakaway goal. Well played young man!

Coaches' Player of the Week
This player is a joy to watch and coach. He really seems to understand where to be and how to use space on a football pitch. I'm pretty sure he can score from anywhere on the pitch too. He took a knock in his second game but gutted it out to help his teammates and even scored a couple more goals! Great performance player!

It’s time to celebrate some absolute superstars! 🌟⚽ We’re giving a massive shout-out to our latest Team of the Week!

From our brilliant U7s right through to our fantastic Wolverley Women FC, this is grassroots football at its very best! ❤️🖤💛

Being selected by our coaches is a fantastic achievement. It means our Swans' hard work, attitude, commitment and performances have stood out from the crowd.

Whether it's smashing tackles, scoring screamers, pulling off worldie saves, creating chances or leading by example, these players earned their place! 💪👏

With plenty of action at our home ground, Mill Lane, it was another fantastic weekend of Swans football. There’s nothing quite like seeing our players giving it everything on our own patch! 🏡🦢

And what a weekend to do it! The clocks have gone back, winter is starting to creep in, and those muddy pitches, cold mornings and soggy socks are just around the corner! 🌧️🥶

Wolverley FC U12 Girls 1–7 Bromsgrove Sporting Girls FC U12

A tough fixture against the league leaders for our Swans, but the girls went into the game full of confidence and showed plenty of positives throughout ❤️💛

Despite the goals going in, the girls never dropped their heads and continued to play with confidence, moving the ball around the whole pitch and trying to play our football. The effort and belief were there for everyone to see, and the girls were rewarded with a goal that was thoroughly deserved! 👏⚽️

The scoreline might not have gone our way, but the confidence, attitude and determination shown against the league leaders give us plenty to build on.

Proud of you girls. Keep believing, keep battling and keep being you! ❤️💛

MANAGERS’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Awarded to the player both coaches call our “Terrier”! 🐾 She never stops running, is always in the right place at the right time and won us loads of fouls. An absolute workhorse who never gives the opposition a moment’s peace! ❤️💛

COACHES’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Awarded to a player who stepped into an unfamiliar position and made it look like she’d played there all season! Solid in defence, battling throughout and giving everything for the team. A brilliant example of adaptability and commitment. 👏

Wolverley FC U14 Warriors 2-2 Hagley FC

It was a frustrating afternoon, as our Warriors let a two-goal half-time lead slip, with Hagley grabbing an equaliser with the last kick of the game.

At 2-0 up at half-time, the message from the coaches was clear: the next goal is crucial, and we need to be the team to get it. Unfortunately, we didn’t do enough in the second half to see the game out.

We were second to too many balls, didn’t compete with enough intensity, and simply didn’t sprint or work hard enough when it mattered. Credit to Hagley, who kept going and ultimately deserved their last minute equaliser.

Warriors were missing three key players today but despite this, we got ourselves in a winning position so it’s really disappointing that we didn’t see it through - but in truth, we didn’t get going from the first minute of the game.

Some of the lads did put in good performances and were close on POTM but in the end we went with LV an TM. Both of them won battles, front footed and did all they could on the day to get us a result with Logan up against arguably their best player all first half an keeping him out.

Our U9s hosted Unity Sports Vipers at Mill Lane yesterday.

The game showed the importance of staying fully focused for the whole duration of a match. As a group, we all need to work hard. We started the game strongly and found ourselves on track for a positive result.

However, a crazy 10 minutes saw the fixture completely turn upside down. However, this also gave us an opportunity to try something new. Our goalkeeper came out of goal to enjoy some minutes on the right wing, and our right winger enjoyed his first minutes in goal. The changes resulted in the game being very close at the end and meant we finished strongly.

Today's captain was reminded that a captain leads by example. He certainly put in a captain’s performance today.

Today Spectators Player of the Match has moved on so much since the start of the season and worked extremely hard for his teammates today. He was also very unlucky not to score.

Today's Coach’s Player of the Match went to our goalkeeper. He has faced a few challenges in recent weeks. And maybe he hasn't been as sharp as we know he can be. But today, we saw that return. Not everything went his way, but it was great to see the hunger back in his eyes. He also made a massive impact when he came out of goal for the last 10 minutes.

Yesterday’s game for our U8s was another good game, with every player putting the work in.

We can see that they are all improving as a team and individually each week.

It wasn't the result we were hoping for, but the boys do not let that get them down.

They kept going and ran their socks off until the end.

Well done to our captain today on getting the Manager’s Player of the Match and his team mate for receiving Parents’ Players of the Match.

With October half term upon us, it’s a slightly quieter one for our Swans this weekend.

BUT, there’s still loads of action across the weekend - especially at Mill Lane.

NEXT UP - Kingfisher development

After a short break due to. Postponements and cup bye week, Wolverley Women are back this Sunday as we make the trip to face Kingfisher Development.

With three wins from our opening three games, the Swans finally get an away game. We will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to our season. Kingfisher are also unbeaten so this is going to be tough test for the team.

It’s another opportunity for the team to build on the fantastic start we’ve made, but we know there is plenty of hard work still ahead of us!
