🏆 AYRSHIRE SIDES DISCOVER SCOTTISH CUP FIRST ROUND OPPONENTS🏆

The first-round draw for the Senior Scottish Cup has thrown up some standout ties involving Ayrshire sides.

It is deja vu for Cumnock Juniors and Auchinleck Talbot, who have once again been paired together at this early stage of the competition. Tommy Sloan’s Talbot came from behind to beat their fierce rivals 2-1 in the televised meeting at Beechwood in September 2025.

Bonnyton Thistle will face East Stirlingshire after making history at the weekend by reaching the first round proper for only the second time, following victory over Camelon. Their last appearance at this stage came in the 2022/23 season, when they were beaten 2-0 away by Musselburgh Athletic.

Speaking to Sideliners, Thistle assistant manager Eoin Waite said the club is relishing the occasion.

He said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be through to the first round proper. There’s a real buzz around the club at the moment and everyone is looking forward to this upcoming tie.

“Camelon was a really tough test and a big scalp for us, so to come through a game like that says a lot about the character and effort within the group. East Stirlingshire will give us another great challenge and the opportunity to test ourselves against a team from a higher level.”

Elsewhere, Largs travel to face Gala Fairydean Rovers, Irvine Meadow head to Bo’ness United, while Jimmy Kirkwood’s Troon face a long trip north to take on Deveronvale.

The fixtures are due to be played on the weekend of October 3. ⚽📆
