🍂🎆 Dark by eight. Chilly of a morning. You know what that means.

Fireworks weather.

There's something about mid-September that flips a switch. The nights draw in, the floodlights come on at training, and suddenly a field full of people looking up at a sky full of green and gold doesn't feel that far off.

Six weeks tomorrow, as it happens.

🍛 Two things to sort before the 28th. A seat, and a trip to the cashpoint.

Quick but important update on curry night. It's cash only. No card machine on the night, so please come prepared, and spread the word to anyone you've talked into coming.

Ten quid a head, and here's what that gets you:

🥘 Poppadom with dips
🍛 Any main you fancy off the menu (seafood is a bit extra)
🍚 Naan or rice

📅 Monday 28th September
📍 Alam International
💷 £10 per person, cash on the night

Eat in only, and drinks are bought at the restaurant.

Here's the bit worth knowing though. This is a fundraiser. Every seat filled puts money back into the club, and that goes exactly where it always goes. Pitches, kit, referees, and keeping subs low enough that no local kid misses out on a game.

So you get a proper curry and a good night out, and the club gets a lift. Not a bad deal for a Monday.

It's also a rare chance to get everyone together somewhere warm and dry, instead of shouting at each other across a muddy touchline. Players, parents, committee, supporters, anyone who fancies it.

⚽🟢⚪ Some of them have never played a proper match in their lives. This weekend, that changes.

New season, and it starts now.

Most of our grassroots sides are out for their first game of the campaign, with our SDYFL teams leading the charge. New boots, clean kit, that slightly sick feeling on the way to the ground. Brilliant, isn't it.

And somewhere in amongst it all, our brand new Under 7s play their first ever official 3v3 fixture. First match, first whistle, first time pulling on the green and white for real. Whatever happens on that pitch, it's a day those kids and their parents will remember.

Then on Sunday, our Ladies are at home.

🙏🟢⚪ Some people back you once. Some keep showing up.

When we were first getting the U9 Girls off the ground, Village Podiatrists put £500 behind them and helped make it happen.

They've just done it again. Another £500, and they've never stopped supporting us in between.

That's not a sponsorship. That's a relationship, and it's the sort of backing that genuinely changes what we can offer young girls in this area. Kit, training, football that's affordable for families. None of it happens on its own.

Played Kewford Allstars from Div2, played well, kept the ball well, matched the boys for physicality, lost the game but gained a lot from it. We start the season next week in Div4 and the girls are learning what’s needed to play in a higher division, exactly what’s needed. 👌🏻

🏆🟢⚪ First ever tournament win!

Get in! 👏

Our U12 Girls headed to the West Hagley FC Invitational on Sunday 6th September and came home with the trophy. Their first tournament win as a team, and you can see exactly what it meant to them.

Every one of them played their part. Every one of them earned that.

Moments like this are why we do it.

A group of young footballers who've trained through the winter, backed each other all the way, and got their reward with a trophy in the middle of a pitch on a sunny Sunday.

Enormous well done to the girls and to the coaches who've got them there. 💚

🟢⚪ Thirty-one games. One club. One very busy day at Eagle Park.

Read that again. Thirty-one.

From our brand new 3v3 format for the littlest Eagles, all the way through to our Supported Ability Section, every corner of this club is out on the grass today for the last of the friendlies before the season starts properly.

Hundreds of players. Coaches who've given up their whole weekend. Parents on every touchline. Volunteers who've been here since early doors making sure it all runs.

That's what a community club actually looks like. Not one team, but all of them, on the same patch of grass on the same morning.

If you're down here today, enjoy it. If you're not, come and have a look at what's going on. The diner's open, there's football wherever you turn, and you'll get a proper sense of what this place is.

What a way to repay the U9s for that walkout.

Gino Lopes Da Veiga got us going inside ten minutes, Kieron Hughes doubled it on sixteen, and Joe Pewton put the game to bed on seventy. Three one, and back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The lads were on it from the first whistle, and with the youngsters watching on from the side, it's exactly the sort of afternoon that makes this club tick.
