British Skydiving

Every Drop Zone has one.

Usually four-legged, frequently asleep and somehow still in charge.

It’s International Dog Day, so it’s time to recognise some of the real VIPs of British skydiving.

They don’t pack parachutes.
They don’t do manifest.
They’re suspiciously lacking in valid licences.

And despite what we may have suggested back in April, British Skydiving membership for dogs still isn’t a thing... yet.

Here at HQ, we also have our own office dogs keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Now we want to see the dogs of British skydiving.

Drop your best photos in the comments. At the DZ, asleep in the hangar, watching landings, supervising packing or carrying out other important dog duties.

British Skydiving Safety Notice SN-03/26

Following British Skydiving Safety Notice 01/26 and 02/26 with reference to the grounding of Aerodyne ICON containers, British Skydiving has reviewed available manufacturer information, UK testing, technical input and further information relevant to Aerodyne ICON size I1-I3 harness/container systems.

This notice sets out the conditions that must be met before ICON size I1-I3 containers can be returned-to-use at British Skydiving Affiliated PTOs.

Accuracy Championships at Skydive GB!

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed, medalled and helped make the championships such a fantastic event.

From Sport Accuracy across Senior, Intermediate and Novice categories, to Classics, Team Accuracy and the Club Cup, there were some brilliant performances throughout the competition.

A special highlight was a new National Record of three consecutive dead centres in the Sport category!

A massive thank you to all of the judges, officials, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes, as well as Skydive GB for hosting.

Remembering Dougie Peacock

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dougie Peacock, a much-respected figure in British skydiving.

Dougie served as a BPA National Coach and Safety Officer during the late 1970s and early 1980s and made a significant contribution to the sport throughout his career. He held various FAI judging and instructor ratings, served as a Chief Instructor and competed at World Championships, leaving a lasting mark on the skydiving community.

***Update: At the request of Dougie’s family, the previously published funeral details have been removed.

The family have been incredibly touched by the number of tributes and the response from across the skydiving community. Given the number of people wishing to pay their respects, they have asked that the funeral itself remains a private ceremony for family and close friends.

Details of a separate opportunity for the wider community to come together and celebrate Dougie’s life will be shared if and when arrangements are confirmed.

We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time and thank you for the enormous amount of support and affection being shown for Dougie.

Our thoughts are with Dougie’s daughters, Heidi and Mary, and with all his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
