Leigh RUFC Minis and Juniors

The Mighty Panthers were back with a bang as they welcomed Rochdale and Burnley to Round Ash Park to kick start their Under 10’s season. Missing a few of their big hitters, those Panthers on the park were clearly raring to go after what feels like a long Summer break.

Rochdale always provide a stern test and the 2 games against them were super physical and fast paced. The Burnley matches were a bit more free flowing with some great handling on show throughout.

Loads of positives, loads of awesome tries but the unquestionable highlight being the rock solid defence that conceded only 1 try across 4 x 25 minute matches 👏🏻

Coaches shout outs go to Freddie W for cracking on after a big knock, Bobby ‘Cheat code’ B for his long range interception try, Freya B for an all action debut and Bobby T for a quality hat trick. Toby R, Jackson V, Bobby G and Rupert L all deserve big respect for volunteering to play for Burnley to even up the numbers 🤝

3 new player of the week trophies were handed out 🏆

Max D - What a debut! Unreal defence and a hat trick. Looked like he’d been around for years!

Dexter H - Our first try scorer of the season and another quality hat trick hero.

Erin G - Try saving tackles on players twice her size + some fierce running in attack.

Top rucker medals (new for this season) went to big Fraser P and Tommy T who were both menaces at the breakdown all day.

Finally, a new Rugby values award went to Thomas E for outstanding manners and support for his coaches.

With 9 players missing to add back into the mix, the rest of the season sure does look bright. Roll on next week!

Up The Panthers ⚫️🟡🐾

The Leigh Rugby League past players team may have pipped our White Panthers in the grand final but our tournament organisers handed out the most important trophies to 6 of our Mini & Juniors 🏆

Jackson for his outstanding manners, Toby for his mix of fierce competitiveness and kindness, Archie for some sensational defence, Rory for his incredible bravery, Bobby for some unselfish play and great sportsmanship, Henry for a tremendous attitude and constantly cheering on his teammates.

Well done boys 👏🏻

And just in case today wasn’t special enough, some of our Under 6’s Tiger Cubs stepped out onto a pitch for the very first time and roared their way into the Semi Finals 🏆

What a fantastic day at Leigh RUFC for our Beyond the final whistle event.
Proper Rugby values on show everywhere you looked and our Mini and Junior players stole the show 👏🏻
