Leyburn 7-2 Great Ayton

With the weather looking grim first thing Friday morning one of the lads got us 4g ❤️thanks Phil 👍
With over 20k of football foundation grant and our own money being spent on Leyburn pitches over the last 5 years we didnt want to wreck the pitch so early in the season.

Great Ayton traveled in force with loads of players and supporters , they started the stronger going 0-1 up after 21 mins , some sloppy work at the back.

Soon back on level terms with a great headed goal from Kieran Hawes 1-1 .

Leyburn still looked shaky again not clearing from the back 1-2 , 33 mins.

2-2 after 41 mins when Sam Taylor making a habit recently flying down the wing and firing home 2-2.

3-2 just before the great another well worked goal from Adam Morland.

Tide turned after the break , Leyburn scoring 4 more goals to make the final score 7-2

Another goal apiece from Sam and Adam , John finishing well on debut , and young Noah also finding the back of the net.

Sam -2 HB tree services & plant hire

Thornaby Nash 3-3 Leyburn utd

Lou Moore Trophy

Leyburn traveled to Thornaby this afternoon who are a division above to compete in the Lou Moore mini league .

Leyburn with only 12 available players from 32 registered was not ideal !

4g pitch which could of done with a refurb and 25 mile ph winds not ideal.

Thornaby took the lead after 10 mins 1-0.

Leyburn soon level after a great run done the right wing by Sam Taylor finishing well 1-1.

Soft free kick given away on the 30th minute saw Nash score direct 2-1 .

Couple of half chances went begin for Leyburn before the home side took control 3-1 on 40mins.

Will Hewson got Leyburn back into the game just before half time 3-2 with a decent finish.

2nd half much improved Leyburn , who looked to take the game to the home side , pressing and putting pressure on Thornaby with several half chances going waywood.
Thornaby couple of break away chances kept out by a solid Leyburn deffence and Phil reliable between the sticks.

Frustrating afternoon for Adam Morland Leyburns leading scorer , finally finding the back of the net on 88th min 3-3 .
Leyburn pressed for the winner
Fulltime 3-3

Fair result in the end 3-3

Thornaby Nash , good set of lads , wish them all the best in remainder of season 👏

Special mention to Noah Clements , stepped up today at the young age of 16 , playing out of position for 60 mins at left back and doing a fantastic job , before finishing the game on the right wing 👏⚽️

County cup
Leyburn 1-1 Westover Wasps

Westover wasps made the 2hour journey by 🚌
from Scarborough 🏖️

Leyburn set the pace with an early goal , long throw from Billy straight on to Kieran’s head 1-0 after 15 mins.

Game was fairly level after that till 27 mins when Wasps got the equaliser 1-1.
Scoreline remained the same at half time.

Leyburn with the slope in 2nd half penned Westover back with the away keeper in fine form keeping Leyburn out , several missed chances , crossbar / post ect just wasn’t our day.

Leyburn stand in keeper with no save to make in the 2nd 45 , with Wasps keeper busy at the other end.

Wasps were spurred on , worked their socks off , and kept Leyburn out , 1-1 90 mins and straight to pens !

Leyburn without a recognised keeper were up against it at the shoot out .

Wasps taking the win 4-5 👏

Goood set of lads , good luck in the next round , enjoy your day and night out on the way home 👍🍻🍻⚽️
