Olivier Giroud ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡has an opportunity to join Boruussia Dortmund FC before moving to Chelsea FC

"Jen (Oliver's wife) was pregnant, she gave birth on 25th January 2018. And she said to me, โ€˜If you make me move to another country, to Germany, and to Dortmund of all places, Iโ€™ll kill youโ€™."

"At the time, it was a natural progression. The two best clubs at the time, both in the Premier League and in Europe, were Chelsea and Manchester City. In the end, it all worked out well.โ€

choosing to join Chelsea over Manchester United:

โ€œChelsea was far away from my thinking before they won the Champions League.

In my final year at Lille, I had several managers and clubs contacting me. I spoke with Sir Alex Ferguson and also spoke with Harry Redknapp at Tottenham.

I visited Manchester Cityโ€™s training ground and watched a Manchester City game under Roberto Mancini.

Manchester United and other clubs were options, but Chelsea initially wasnโ€™t.

I wanted to move to a club playing Champions League football. Chelsea had not had a great Premier League season, finishing around sixth or seventh.

Then Chelsea won the Champions League, which completely changed the situation.

That is why I always say thank you to Didier Drogba. His equaliser and Chelseaโ€™s Champions League victory played a huge part in bringing me to the club.

I went on holiday in the south of France and met Roman Abramovich.

Roman was there when I had the meeting, but we couldnโ€™t really speak directly. I didnโ€™t speak English properly at that time and he didnโ€™t speak French.

Michael Emenalo helped because he could speak French with me.

We had a normal conversation about football, where I would play and what the future could look like.

After that, I told my agent, โ€˜Okay, letโ€™s go there. Thatโ€™s my club.โ€™โ€
