When I was younger, I genuinely hated being tall.
I was tall, skinny and had big earsāand people at school made sure I knew about all three. There were times when I didnāt want to go back to school or spend time with anyone because I was tired of being laughed at.
Then my basketball coach sat me down and gave me a different perspective.
He told me that people often behave like that because theyāre either scared of you or jealous of youāand both come from their own insecurities.
His words didnāt suddenly make everything easy, but they helped me understand that I didnāt have to carry someone elseās insecurity as if there were something wrong with me.
Itās strange to think that the height I once hated eventually became part of my career, my confidence and the reason Built For Tall exists.
If you were ever made to feel ashamed of what made you different, you were never the problem.
