Squid Academy is now live at ISE.

ISE International School Eastern Seaboard, Thailand is now rolling MSPC out across ICT, after-school activities, and its summer and winter programmes.

That breadth is what makes this one interesting. Rather than keeping esports in one corner of school life, ISE is giving students multiple ways to engage with it across the year.

One of Eastern Thailand’s longest-standing international schools, in a pretty special setting too.

Squid Academy’s Business of Esports is coming to Raffles University - another step in taking practical, industry-led into more schools and universities across the region.

Another campus. Another market. Same mission. 🦑

When we talk about screen time, what students are actually doing on the screen matters.

An hour of passive scrolling is not the same as an hour spent communicating with a team, solving problems, analysing decisions or reflecting on performance.

That doesn’t mean all gaming is automatically educational. The structure around the activity is what makes the difference.

That’s the idea behind Screen Time, With Purpose and it’s also the subject of our new Esports Education Playbook article for educators and school leaders: “Schools Are Cutting Screen Time. Esports Education Should Be Happy About It.”

Big news for the Squid Academy team. We're now an approved AQA Unit Award Scheme centre.

AQA is one of the UK's largest and most trusted awarding bodies, so this is a real marker for us. Being an approved centre means the units students complete across our programmes now come with formal AQA recognition. The work they put in, whether in competitive play or in roles like casting, broadcast, journalism, social media and team operations, is recognised and theirs to carry onto a university application or a CV.

This is also just the first of several accreditations we're working towards, with plenty more on the way.

Your child already plays, so the real question is what they learn while they do it.

Esports in schools is not five kids in a gaming room. Done properly it covers casting, broadcast production, analysis, journalism, social media, team management and operations, all of which are real jobs in the industry and real evidence on a university application. Most students in a well built program never compete at all, and they still come out of it with something to show.
