Our First beginner course at Kenton Sports Club is underway! 🥳

Kit and the team are doing a wonderful job of warming up our new beginners and getting them into the 'string' of things!

We are blessed with mild weather this morning, not too hot, not too cold, no sun in our eyes! 😎

We also have the other side of the field set up for current members to practice their 50m, ready for the short metric we're hosting later!

Thank you to everyone who came in early to help setup the field and equipment 🤗

This weekend we set up both 'Long' ranges for our 252s as we had a lot of members shooting, from 20 yards to 80!

🏹 Congratulations to Eashan and Rushab on completing their 30yrd distances! 🏹 🙌

We're now confident to not only run our beginner courses again, but also have casual archers shooting on the opposite side of the field simultaneously. It might not seem like much for some clubs, but for us, having to configure and learn our new grounds and schedules alongside the other clubs sharing the facilities, this is a big step for us 🥳

Team BoH's trip to 's 25th Pagoda Shoot!

First off - what a gorgeous day to be out in a park, surrounded by so many lovely people!

I (Ainsleigh) have never been to a pagoda shoot before and almost didn't go this year, but a certain couple of girls convinced me to join - to then find we were put in separate fields! 😭😆

The organisers were amazing and helpful, it's such a lovely venue, and though a few of us weren't at our best, we had two wins from our club!

Congratulations to:

Naheed Ali for winning Gold for Ladies Barebow Windsor round with 664 points 🥇
(who has also never shot a Windor round before so big 🙌 for her!)

and

Noelle Burton for winning Bronze for Ladies Barebow Windsor round with 559 points! 🥉

Unfortunately there are no Team trophies for Barebow in this shoot yet, but we will keep our fingers crossed for next year 🤞

Well done to everyone who came along and shot! It was a tough competition, but we all had a lot of fun!

Apologies for the delay in posting!

On Friday 3rd April 26, Aquarius Archery Club celebrated their 60th anniversary! 🥳 And held a Good Friday Albion and Windsor Shoot, in which a small number of our Bowmen of Harrow Archery Club members joined in the celebrations! 🏹

It was cold, windy (as I hear is the standard on their turf) bit at least it was dry!

They also held a BBQ, which was much needed to warm ourselves up with mid shoot 😋
And a raffle which we were fairly sure was rigged (jk) 🤭

Everyone struggled with the wind, and we lost on the team matches, however we have a few congratulations in order:

🥇Akshay Kapoor made Gold for Gents Recurve for the Windsor round with a score of 830

🥇Ainsleigh Barber, Gold for her first Windsor at 497 points

and

🥇Khuzuma Akhtar , Gold for Ladies Asiatic I the Windsor 40 at 401 points

Our score for the Windsor team was 1560 to Aquarius' 1840.

Massive thank you to Aquarius Archery Club for hosting and planning such an awesome day, and thank you also to BoH member Sui-man for freezing his butt off as Field Captain and Judge 🫡

Good Morning from Kenton!

🎊 LNY (…but late) Recap! 🎊

After February’s rain out, we finally held our Lunar New Year shoot on Saturday — and survived the Schrödinger’s Weather forecast (every app said something different, Geddit?).

We shot 80cm face at 15m with horse themed cubes and red lanterns as bonus objectives! First time putting the extras outdoors, which meant trying to hit boxes before the wind blew them aside!
On the plus: we learned our beginner bow rack works outside too, so running beginner courses looks doable. 🥳

🏹 Event highlights:
• Eashan won his first ever event badge by smacking a horse on his final arrow!
• Imogen accidentally grabbed a lantern hiding in the red zone like a sneaky ninja.

After archery we moved indoors for games:
🎯 Co****le: courtesy of Mick. No prizes, just a fun tryout ready for the summer
• New discovery: Don't let Ainsleigh throw things, unless you want to almost smash a few tv screens :😬

🥢Chopstick Challenge: 1 minute, as many beans as you can move using only chopsticks. Proving rather popular, the game offered up Chaos, Determination & an Existential crisis.
• Imogen hit 28 three times - so close to her “I WILL get 30” dream. But she did very well & could have BEAN the top score. 🤭
• Kit (our only Asian competitor this year) shocked us all by… NOT sweeping the floor as we expected! "What kind of Asian am I that can’t pick up beans with chopsticks?!”
• Nigel “I know how to shovel food in my mouth!” scooped the win with 32 beans!

🃏 Big Two — Three rounds of card slinging drama.
• Kind of like an Asian Poker – Straights, flushes, doubles etc. 4 players and 13 cards in hand, the aim is to deplete your hand first. David took round 1, Mick took round 2, and after a final duel between Mick and David… Mick Claimed the crown!

🍽️Potluck: Ainsleigh & Davy brought homemade Bánh Tét with nước chấm, and brownies, muffins, doughnuts, and flapjacks were offered up as a sugary sacrifice from Mick, David & Nigel - Much appreciated 😋

🏆 Winners of the Day:
• Imogen — Lantern Lighter
• Naheed — Lunar Legend
• Kit — Origami Opportunist
• Mick — Big Two Winner
• Nigel — Chopstick Champ

Thanks to everyone who came — see you next time! 😎

Congrats to Naheed🥇Imogen 🥈Akshay🥉for your achievements at the County Championship and Visitors Record Status Portsmouth Last weekend! 🥳

Also massive well done to our newer and younger members also did so well at the tournament 🤗🏅

Throughout this, weekend Team BoH represented at the indoor Portsmouth tournament!

For a few of us, it's been the only real time we've had shooting any Portsmouths this season, due to a lack of indoor location and its time requirement, vs the much shorter Worcesters ans Frostbites we still hold.

Speaking of the frostbite, those that weren't shooting the Portsmouth on Sundays battled the boggy conditions of the homeground at Kenton.

Results to follow!
