This Sunday at SDS, we have Crit Space 5 with Billy Gigurtsis.
π Introducing Ranjini Nair, one of two artists presenting this session.
Ranjini is a dancer and dance researcher. Sheβs been making a tentative foray into choreography for years, and sheβs interested in how power structures exist in the formal aesthetics demanded of the dancer. She will be sharing a choreographic work-in-process exploring the hip as a site of sexual availability and regulation. The work draws from Hindi film songs that link wantonness with the hips, and critiques the studied stillness of the hip in Indian classical dance. Emerged from one of her doctoral thesis chapters.

π We'd love to share our health and wellbeing offers at SDS with you.
π Moving Out- A looping digital collage from R&D Studio, made in collaboration with service users at Tessa Jowell Health Centre and choreographers Jules Cunningham and Annie Pui Ling Lok. Together, participants and artists explored the theme of wellbeing through creativity and movement, and created a digital collage overlaying video with painted images. This project was inspired by the permanent collection at Dulwich Picture Gallery, and is Installed at Tessa Jowell Health Centre.
π Creative Contemporary Classes- Every Wednesday, this class encourages moving with ease, personal expression and joyful creativity. For the second part of the Summer Term we have an incredible line up of teachers!
