🏏 WEEKEND ROUND-UP

Another brilliant weekend of cricket and club life at Sanderstead! 🙌🏻

There were wins for the 1st, 2nd and 4th XIs, while the U21s secured a thrilling 2 wicket victory over Beddington. The 3rd XI battled hard away at Norwood, and there were plenty of standout individual performances across the teams. 👏🏻

Away from the action, we also had a fantastic time celebrating National Cricket Widow Day at the Old Saw Mill! 🥂🏏 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. It was great to see so many players, partners, families, friends and supporters enjoying the celebrations together.

Great cricket, great company and another weekend that shows what SCC is all about! 💛💚

There’s been lots going on behind the scenes at Sanderstead CC this week getting everything ready… and we’re now VERY excited to welcome you all to The Old Saw Mill tomorrow for National Cricket Widow Day! 💛🥂

The drinks are chilling, the raffle prizes are ready, the Widow Spritz cocktail is on the menu, the sausages are waiting to sizzle and Babette is ready to bring the disco! 🪩🎶🍹

Most importantly, we’re ready to celebrate our very own Cricket Widows (and Widowers!) — the wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners, families and friends who support our players week in, week out and put up with everything that comes with loving someone who loves cricket! 😂🏏

And we’ve got plenty planned…

🏏WHAT A WEEKEND FOR SCC! 🏏

A fantastic set of results across the club, with six wins from seven match reports and some outstanding individual and team performances along the way.

🔥 The 1st XI stay TOP OF THE LEAGUE after another emphatic win
👏 The 2s produced an exceptional bowling display to beat 2nd-placed Addiscombe
💪 The 4s won by 10 wickets with only 10 players
🏏 The 5s completed a composed run chase
⭐ The U21 B won by 9 wickets
💛 And despite defeat, the 3s showed plenty of fight in an attacking run chase

And then there was Alfie Winter… 126 runs AND 5–12! 🤯🔥 An extraordinary all-round performance for the 1st XI.

Livstyle Lifestyle - The Cricket Widow We’re proud to be an official host club for National Cricket Widow Day and this time next week we’ll be celebrating all those wonderful people who support our players, our teams and our club week in, week out. 💚💛

And there’s no need to wait until 5pm! Our 2nd XI are at home from midday, so come down early, enjoy an afternoon of cricket and then stay for the celebrations 🎉

Another packed weekend of cricket for SCC 🏏💚💛

The 1st and 2nd XIs kept their winning runs going, the Trailblazers pulled off a brilliant last-over victory over second-placed Southwark Park, and the U17s added another fantastic win. The 3rd, 4th and 5th XIs may not have got the results they’d hoped for but there were plenty of positives and some outstanding individual performances across the club.

🏏 Goodbye July... Hello August!

July has been full of cricket, and we’re signing it off with an exciting weekend ahead as we welcome August tomorrow!

Good luck to everyone pulling on the whites for our 1st–5th XI fixtures this weekend.

The cricket doesn’t stop there either... Sunday is packed with not only our Sunday XI but with both our Women’s Hardball and Softball teams in action, alongside our two Development XI squads. Add in all of our junior fixtures, and it’s incredible to see just how much cricket is being played in Sanderstead colours.

We’re so proud to be a club with so many players, volunteers and supporters making weekends like this possible.

Here’s to kicking off August in the best way possible.
