Middlesex Tennis congratulates Harriet Dart on a determined first-round victory at the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club.
Harriet (from Middlesex) advanced to the second round after a hard-fought match against world number 35 Liudmila Samsonova, securing a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win in two hours and 48 minutes. After losing her serve in the final game of the opening set, Dart produced a resilient performance to level the match. In the deciding set, she converted three of eight break point opportunities to seal the victory.
Dart progresses to the second round, where she will face fourth seed Belinda Bencic.
Let’s go Harriet! 💪

Super show by the 10U boys & girls teams at this weekend's LTA CountyCup South Area Finals.
The boys team travelled to Southampton and had some impressive wins over Somerset (6-0), Norfolk (5-1), Berkshire (5-1) and Surrey (6-0) to become champions.
The girls team travelled to Gloucester and had some great wins over Wiltshire (5-1), Avon (6-0) and Kent (4-2) but a draw with Surrey (3-3) and subsequent shoot-put meant they finished as runner-up.
Great performances by both teams, and superb teamwork representing the county at both events. We’re all massively proud of you (and hope you’re all proud of yourselves too)!

Female Coaches - if you’re self employed and have young children or are currently pregnant, your experiences can help the important study below ⬇️
🎾 Calling Female Tennis & Padel Coaches 🎾
Are you currently pregnant or have young children? We want to hear from you.
We’ve partnered with the Women in Sport Research and Innovation Hub at Loughborough University to better understand how this stage of life is experienced by female tennis and padel coaches—and what support could make a real difference.
We’re looking for self-employed coaches where coaching is your main source of income to take part in the research. You can choose to join:
✅ A 1:1 interview (45–60 minutes)
or
✅ A small online discussion group (60–75 minutes)
Both options offer a supportive, confidential space to share your experiences and help shape future support for coaches across the sport.
👉 Interested? Express your interest here: http://bit.ly/4xdQn4I
We’re also running a short survey (approx. 10 minutes):

Recognising Volunteers in Middlesex
As Volunteers’ Week 2026 continues, Middlesex Tennis is proud to highlight Valerie of Hatch End Tennis Club, our Middlesex LTA Awards ‘Cathie Sabin Volunteer of the Year’ winner. For nearly 40 years, Valerie has been a cornerstone of her club - managing refurbishments, launching inclusive playing initiatives, fundraising, and even retraining to play left-handed to captain her league team, all while balancing significant family commitments.
While we celebrate Valerie’s exceptional achievements, we also want to recognise every individual across Middlesex who selflessly gives their time to support our sports. Volunteers are the backbone of our tennis community, and our clubs simply could not operate without them.
We hope Valerie’s dedication inspires venues across the county to celebrate the invaluable work of their own volunteers this week, and inspires others to step forward and get involved in grassroots tennis and padel.
Read the full article about Volunteers’ Week and Valerie’s story here: https://www.middlesex.tennis/volunteers-who-make-tennis-possible/ or by visiting the Middlesex Tennis website under the News section.
To Valerie, and to every volunteer across Middlesex - thank you for your dedication.
