YMCA Phoenix vs Blackpool Tangerines

A chilly start to the day turned into a beautiful sunny morning as we welcomed Blackpool Tangerines to Seafield Road. ☀️⚽️

The girls were looking to continue the fantastic progress they’ve made over the last few weeks, and they certainly did that today!

Phoenix started really quickly, creating countless chances and showing some brilliant build-up play from defence through to attack. Blackpool grew into the game as the half went on though and finished the first half strongly.

At half-time, we spoke to the girls about playing with energy, working together and moving up the pitch as a team. They took those words on board and executed them to perfection! 👏

The second half was attack after attack from Phoenix, with some excellent passing and teamwork eventually being rewarded with two brilliant team goals, finished off by Lillie and Flo. ⚽️⚽️

The coaches were so proud of the girls’ reaction in the second half. They showed brilliant resilience, determination and teamwork throughout.

A fantastic game from both teams and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by players, coaches and everyone watching. ⚽️

🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match – Sofia
Sofia showed great strength and concentration throughout the game, staying focused and cutting out numerous Blackpool attacks. A brilliant defensive performance! 👏

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Flossie
Flossie’s energy is absolutely relentless and infectious! She never stops running, battling and driving the team forward. That energy makes such a difference to the team every single week. Never lose that energy, Flossie! 🔥

Springfields Blacks vs YMCA Phoenix

It was a chilly Sunday morning for the Phoenix as they travelled to Preston to take on our good friends at Springfields.

The weather may have been chilly, but the action on the pitch was red hot! 🔥⚽

Springfields started really strongly, meaning the Phoenix had to work hard defensively in the early stages. As the game went on, though, the girls grew into it and started to play some fantastic football.

Some brilliant determination from Marissa saw her work an opening before playing a beautiful ball into the box, where Sofia was waiting to finish from close range. ⚽👏

Marissa then got herself on the scoresheet with another great Phoenix goal!

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with the Phoenix playing some lovely football and adding two further goals through great finishes from Lillie and Isobel. ⚽⚽

It was a truly brilliant game of football and one that was enjoyed by all the spectators, coaches and players. A huge well done to both teams for such an entertaining game — we can’t wait for the next encounter! 👏

🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match – Flo
An incredible effort throughout the game. Flo worked tirelessly to help drive the team forward and constantly pressed the Springfields defence. A fantastic performance! 👏

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Beau
Beau simply never gave up. Her endless running and work rate for the team were second to none, and she gave absolutely everything from start to finish. 💪👏

Cadley Reds vs YMCA Phoenix

With the sun shining, the Phoenix travelled down to Preston to face Cadley Reds. ☀️⚽

The girls have been working so hard in training on possession and passing, and it was fantastic to see them putting that into practice on the pitch today.

Phoenix played some brilliant football in the first half, with two excellent team goals finished off by Isobel and Beau. ⚽⚽

The girls battled throughout the game and showed great resilience from start to finish. Every single player put in an excellent performance, and the coaches were incredibly proud of them all.

🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match – Marissa
Another outstanding performance between the sticks before coming outfield and continuing to battle further up the pitch. Brilliant effort, Marissa! 👏

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Isla
Isla is playing with so much confidence and is becoming more relaxed and composed on the ball every week. She works incredibly hard in training, and it’s really starting to show on matchdays. 👏⚽

Another really positive performance from the Phoenix and great to see the hard work in training transferring onto the pitch.

⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️

Thornton Cleveleys vs YMCA Phoenix

The sun was shining for our trip to Thornton as the Phoenix headed out on their first away fixture of the season. ☀️⚽️

The girls were determined to show off the passing football they’ve been working hard on in training, and with the pitch in great condition, it was the perfect opportunity to showcase their talents.

The game was fairly even in the early stages, but the Phoenix gradually grew into the match and started to produce some excellent build-up play, moving the ball confidently and working really well as a team.

That good play was rewarded when Quinn opened the scoring for the Phoenix with an absolute thunderbolt — a brilliant low drive into the bottom corner! 🚀⚽️

Marissa worked tirelessly throughout the first half, causing problems with her energy and determination, and she got the reward she deserved with a great goal just before half-time.

The Phoenix continued to play some fantastic attacking football in the second half. Isobel and Lillie both came agonisingly close after striking the woodwork, while at the other end our defenders and goalkeepers were excellent throughout.

A third goal eventually arrived through Isobel, who capped off a brilliant performance with another fantastic strike. ⚽️👏

It was a brilliant game of football between two teams who both played their part in a really enjoyable match. Most pleasing for us was seeing the girls putting into practice the passing and build-up play we’ve been working on in training. 💙

🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match – Isobel
After an excellent first-half display in goal, Isobel came outfield in the second half, ran her socks off and topped off her performance with a brilliant goal!

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Hallie
A fantastic defensive performance from Hallie. She worked incredibly hard, put in some great tackles and showed real composure whenever she had the ball.

⚽ **MATCH REPORT: YMCA PHOENIX vs EUXTON GIRLS** ⚽

It’s been a busy summer for the Phoenix girls, but we’ve all been eagerly awaiting the start of the **2026/27 season** — and today was finally the day it all kicked off! 🔥⚽

We welcomed a **Euxton Girls** team to Seafield Road that we hadn’t played before, so it was great to face some new opposition.

It was always going to prove a difficult game for both teams, with the long, dry summer taking its toll on the pitches. The conditions made it almost impossible for either side to play the free-flowing passing football they would have wanted.

Both teams gave it everything, though, and battled hard from start to finish. Inevitably, the difficult surface made it a scrappy contest, but there was certainly no shortage of effort or determination from either team.

Hopefully the pitches recover soon so we can get back to enjoying our football at Seafield Road! 🤞⚽

🌟 **Parents’ Player of the Match – Marissa**
After an excellent first half in goal, Marissa came out for the second half and absolutely ran her socks off! She worked tirelessly and created countless opportunities for the Phoenix. A brilliant all-round performance. 👏

Lillie was always looking to drive the team up the pitch and spread the play out to the wings. She worked incredibly hard throughout and came so close to getting herself on the scoresheet as well. 👏

🏆🏆CHAMPIONS AGAIN OLE OLE 🏆🏆

The mighty Phoenix came away as BJFF Tournment plate winners.

With 2 wins & 2 loses in the group earning a spot in the Plate final. It was a nervous 0-0 draw in the final so was down to Penalties to decide the winner.

The Phoenix kept there cool winning the shootout 2-1 and 2 brilliant saves from Isobel.

Well done girls, well deserved trophy 🏆

Match Report – Cadley Reds vs YMCA Phoenix

The mighty Phoenix finally returned to action after an extended Easter break.

The weather couldn’t have been better for our trip over to Preston to face Cadley Reds — sunshine and plenty of smiling faces all around.

With a few players unavailable this week, we knew it was going to be a tough test and one that would really demand energy from the squad.

The girls never gave up throughout the game and worked incredibly hard both on and off the ball.

Isobel scored our only goal of the match with a fantastic finish over the keeper.

Parents’ Player of the Match went to Marissa. She had a brilliant first half in goal and then ran her socks off up front in the second half, coming very close on several occasions to getting on the scoresheet.

Coaches’ Player of the Match went to Beau, who put in an incredible shift in central midfield — winning the ball back consistently and driving the team forward.

Match Report – Blackpool Girls vs YMCA Phoenix

You wouldn’t have thought it was the start of the Easter holidays today as the Phoenix were battered by some awful weather.

But it takes a lot more than gale-force winds and sideways rain to stop these awesome girls.

Phoenix adapted to the conditions quickly and played some great football early on. It wasn’t long before they got on the scoresheet. Lille delivered a great corner which looked like it might go straight in, only to be stopped by the wind, but Quinn was there to react first and fire the rebound into the bottom corner.

The girls continued to battle throughout the rest of the first half and well into the second.

It felt like the wind changed direction after the break and the girls really had to battle the elements. The defence was on fire and both keepers had great games.

This was a true show of resilience and girl power from both teams today. You all did yourselves proud.

Parents’ Player of the Match went to Flo, who showed excellent composure on the ball and was absolutely solid in defence in the second half.

Coaches’ Player of the Match went to Sofia, who filled in a defensive role today and truly made it her own. Solid as a rock and nothing got past her.

Match Report – YMCA Phoenix vs Myerscough JFDC

The weather was a little more on our side this weekend. Although the sun didn’t make an appearance, we were all grateful to stay dry.
The game started very evenly, but we knew we would have to cope with some pressure at times. Because of that, it was important for us to stay disciplined with our positioning and make sure we closed the ball down well. That was exactly how the game unfolded.

Phoenix have been working so hard on looking after the ball and moving it up the pitch as a team. That hard work is really starting to pay off, and the girls more than held their own today. They should all be very proud of themselves.

There was also some unbelievable defending on show, along with some excellent goalkeeping.

The moment of the game was a perfect passing move up the pitch, which ended with Lillie calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net. It was a brilliant team goal.

The Parents’ Player of the Match went to Quinn, who was absolutely solid today in both defence and central midfield. Quinn won almost every ball that came her way, showing excellent strength both on and off the ball.

The Coaches’ Player of the Match went to Lillie, who ran her socks off today, playing on the wing and dropping back into defence to help the team. She topped off a great performance with a very well-taken goal.

Well done, Phoenix — keep up the hard work!
