Aaannnyyywaaay...it's weird, but as soon as my guy @bennythebarber__ started cutting it, it wasn't a problem anymore!

I've been building this up in my head (and turning 40 very soon) for such a long time, that it was really stressing me out.

What will it look like?
I've got a funny shaped head!
What if I don't like it?
Blah blah blah.

It's a f*****g haircut mate! 

And I see this same behaviour every single week in other people - and lots of my clients. 

And do you know what I always say?

Either...

Do it right now.  Just start.

Or...

What's the absolute worst that's going to happen - because that definitely won't happen! 

So I get that you're sat there, wanting to make a change but finding it hard because...

'It might be hard'
'It might make you change' 🤯
'The gym is 'scary''
'You don't like being hungry'
'I can't afford it'

But hold on to your hats here...absolute classic coming up...

Nothing will change if you don't change what you're doing!

So I finally did it!

Struggling with consistency STILL?

I like this picture (now) for a few reasons...

First being that my phone is in my pocket 😳😅

Second, the alignment of the cables through my shoulders and elbows. Textbook 😏

Third, the lighting is making me look way bigger/broader than I am 😎

And so this is the theme for my week...

Totally wasn't going to post this picture a few weeks ago because of the phone 💀

But I'm not going to be 'perfect' all the time.

I bet you didn't even see the phone?!

I don't need to be perfect all the time.

I just need to show up and 'do the do'.

Turn up for my clients. Turn up for Beaks and Blu (yes that is my dog). Turn up for myself.

Consistently turn up - even on here - even with a phone in my pocket👌🏻😅

Track something daily, i promise you it’s a game changer!

But it's something else i HAVE to do.
But i don’t like seeing the scales go up - it ruins my day.
I find it really boring.
I always start and haven’t ever followed it through!

If like Jo you’ve found yourself saying those things, you 100% MUST track something EVERYDAY!

Especially if your goal is weight loss because not tracking that is kinda weird!

Jo went from weighing every few weeks and sometimes being disappointed with the number, to weighing every day.

And do you know what happened?

She got happier. She got more motivated. She understood more. She made changes quicker. She made better choices.

And all of those things got her in a better place to lose more weight, quicker!

So what are you going to track everyday?

It could be food, sleep, energy, steps, water intake.

All of those things will lead to you feeling better - and ultimately getting to the result you want quicker!

Now everyone in the not a bodybuilder bodybuilding programme tracks differently. Because i understand that everyone is different!

This isn’t a one size fits all approach. Its a club where everyone has similar goals (fat loss and/or muscle gain), but hugely different lives! So the plan has to adapt to fit that!

If you’re over 30, have a gym membership (or are willing to get one) and have a fat loss or muscle building goal and haven’t quite figured out what works best for you, then this is the place to do it.

🤧😷When you’re ill and can’t train, do this…

..Look at all your nice photos and videos of yourself when you weren’t sick and looking healthier than you look right now!

But in all seriousness, it sucks when you can’t train.

I get it as im someone that pins a-lot on the routine of training and the buzz the gym gives me.

But here are a few things you definitely should be doing if and when you get sick:

(And when i say sick i obviously mean man flu)

1️⃣ Prioritise sleep - when we sleep we recover!
2️⃣ Keep food the same (as far as possible) - you might want to add in some extra fruit and veggies for the vitamins!
3️⃣ Use the time to evaluate and refocus - Where are you at? Whats been going well? What could be even better?

Its not ‘wasted time’ if you use it to get better ASAP and have a plan to get going again.

One last thing 🤧🤧

Honestly.

Where does all the snot really come from???? Mental🤢

I'm not a bodybuilder - but I love bodybuilding!

You won't see me or any of my clients on a stage - unless it's karaoke, guilty (señorita for the win btw 🔥)! - And you won't see me doing any shred challenges or photoshoots.

I'm here to make the normal gym guy or girl who's over 30 but still fancies themselves as a 23 year old - again guilty -, build some muscle and drop a decent amount of body fat without having to moan about anything!

Essentially, if you love the gym, or have recently (re)found it, have lost your way a bit with food and the booze and you're not looking after yourself like you used too, and just want to look great in a t-shirt - come on the arms - or that dress from two summers ago that doesn’t currently fit - i want to help!

So lets put this back in to my story - your hitting a landmark birthday - cough40 - in 9 months and don't want to look like a bag of dicks on the beach in Mexico when celebrating!

Penny was one of my first ‘big’ transformations.

Not just in her physical development, but in her mental development too.

She started just wanting to train to lose weight and ’tone' for a (big) Birthday but left a qualified PT, in amazing shape and a half marathon runner!

AND continues to practice (and preach im sure) what we developed.

My methods and direction may have changed, but my beliefs and overall goals are the same.

Get people the results that they want whilst giving them the tools to continue to do it themselves.

If i don't teach you, the results won’t last. Sustainability is still a huge goal of mine - i don't want you to have to come back once we’re done - or worse, go somewhere else!

But all of this starts with you taking the first step.

Having a goal and wanting to change.

You need to invest in yourself.

And there isn’t a better place to do that right now than the not a bodybuilder bodybuilding club - either face to face or online.

What a throwback this is…

If you saw some of my content from last week, you’ll know i've been doing some 'soul searching' of late.

And when this photo came up on my memories it triggered another little stream of thought.

I was ’new’ to PT then, id probably been at it for 3 years and considered myself successful - fully happy.

Super full diary - i'm talking 8-9 clients a day, 5 days a week.

Getting very good results with a relatively wide range of clients - fat loss, injury rehab, strength.

Working somewhere i genuinely loved, alongside people i enjoyed working with.

Now over the past 8/9 years ALOT has changed (Alot actually changed quite soon after those pictures had been taken).

And this is where my actual point comes in…

We look back at where we were, what we looked like (the long shorts💀) and what we felt like,

but,

We dont always remember the situations we were in and the stresses we had (literally zero at this point - and very limited insta and facebook) around us.

So why do we compare ourselves to what we used to be, look like, earn etc etc etc.

I know it's early...

But what are you proud of so far this year?

I have two things...

The first is the WhatsApp community I've created for the not a bodybuilder bodybuilding club.

The engagement has been unreal and I'm proud of the guys for really opening up, being vulnerable at times and helping other members out 😌

From sharing MFP tips, asking for help with specific exercises or wanting to find the best place to get new gym shorts 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

The second is a little more personal...

And it sounds bo****ks but,

It's just the fact I continue to just keep going and (slowly, very slowly) moving forward.

Jesus Christ the lord did I want to jump ship before Xmas! Not like that! But I was questioning if I was still in to all of this business stuff 😳

But here we are now.

New pictures, posted for 3 consecutive days (🤯😅) clients pushing harder than ever (let's hope it's not just for January 🫠) before and feeling like there's still a good load of work to do here and lots of people to help in my own way.

We move, slowly sometimes, but we move and that's all that matters 🫡
