Transformation that lasts, with a blast from the past. Helping men transform their body from decent to damn impressive.

Lol at the ‘get lean and still eat all the foods you want’ crowd who try and sell you the unrealistic dream .

But also let’s call out the bodybuilder douches who think boiled chicken and broccoli is the only way to get in shape and anything else is weak.

As always, the best approach for you is likely half way between the two but social media is a clusterf*ck of trying to be as controversial as possible in the desperate hope of followers.

When dieting I track calories meticulously and consistently. This might seem restrictive but it actually allows me to fit in the things I want to fit in, albeit less than usual, which is a sacrifice worth paying every now and then.

This level of focus also buys me the freedom to not track when I go on holidays or weekends away, such as Download last week.

I gained 2kg while away and then lost it all when I got back so no damage done and certainly not worth getting stressed over.

You just can’t eat like you’re on holiday year round. Who’d have thought?!

Anyway, I’m gigging tonight and tracking means I can fit a beer in.

I’ll drink to that.

Cheers 🍻

Lewis Hamilton has put me in a tricky situation now that he’s won his first race for Ferrari.

This can of Lewis Hamilton monster is my last and I’ve been saving it and saving it as you’ll see in the video.

What do I do now? Do we dare to dream? Still we rise?

Help me out!

I seem to have downloaded man flu, which I guess was inevitable after spending 3 long days stood in a field and not sleeping well.

I skipped my workout this morning because I felt so rough and could barely manage to pick up a tissue, let alone weights.

Knowing my diet has a very limited time window (before my summer holiday) makes this even more frustrating. However, there is wisdom that comes from doing this long enough to realise that an extra day of rest will make the next 9 or so week more productive.

Too many people wimp out of the gym for any old excuse but today there was no option.

I’ve made peace with it now and will re-commit to max effort from tomorrow.

More updates to follow……….

How much did I f*ck up my diet from 4 days at Download?

Well I can still progress from the start photos but did manage to gain 2kg in 4 days so we’ll see.

I know there’s no way I gained 2kg of body fat despite eating my body weight in cooked breakfast buffet for 3 days in a row.

Learning to enjoy myself and be less obsessed with my physique is a weird realisation for me but I really felt comfortable with my choice to relax while I was away.

That said, there’s still 10 weeks to go until my summer holiday so I’m going to see how much progress I can make and still not be (as much of) a boring ball bag 🤣

The other thing I learned this weekend is how much I crave community despite being an introverted little wallflower. I think I’m just aware my social battery is smaller than other peoples and I don’t have time for d*ckheads.

Anyway, more to come on the ‘community’ thing from me, could even be something useful to you if you’re old and like metal, nostalgia and lifting weights 😉

Anyhoo, back to the diet today. Swapping beer for rice cakes.

PARTY ON!

Wow. What a weekend. It made me realise how much we stop doing things we find fun as we get older and it’s made me want to live more fully.

So many incredible bands across the weekend. I’ll share my favourites at some point. I might even make the odd post about training and stuff

Should also get back to that diet I started pre Download. Tomorrow.

For now though I have client check ins to do and a child to pick up from school. Can’t wait to see my lovely little famalam.

If you went to Download, who were your top 3 bands?

F*ck it! You only live once right?

Well, I’m taking a very relaxed approach to my food at Download Festival this weekend.

However, I’m also not going to eat like a bellend and pretend the calories don’t exist.

I’ve worked hard for the last few weeks and now I’m going to enjoy some nice food and a few beers.

It’s my time to stand in a field with thousands of friends I’ve not yet met, bond over some amazing heavy metal and pretend I’m still as young as my mental age.

If you’re going to be at Download this weekend, I’d love to meet up, take a selfie and make a new friend 🤘🏻

Progress photos SUCK. If you don’t do them properly.

Forgot to take my photos in the usual place and it makes comparison so much harder.

Despite being 2kg (4.4 pounds) down between the 2 photos, it’s not easy to see and that’s what really messes with my head sometimes.

I know my coach will put my head on straight when he sees them and sees the numbers but what we see in the mirror and what everyone else sees are never the same are they?

Another 3 days of focus on this diet before 4 days of relaxing and enjoying Download Festival.

Could’ve waited until I came back to start the diet but that would’ve made everything so much harder. I decided the best option was to get started as soon as possible and not keep waiting for the perfect time.

Not going to think too much about food while I’m away but I’m not gonna eat like a bellend either.

I’ll be interested to see what those 4 days do to the scales and photos.

Are you off to Download? Would be so cool to get loads of pictures with internet people in real life!

Let’s party like it’s 2006 not 2026 🤘🏻

PS - apologies for the badly matched photo angles. Just another pitfall of not being consistent with the location and conditions. Normal service will resume next week.

PPS - Part of the issue may be that I cannot pose for sh*t 🤷🏻‍♂️

Being a metalhead in your 40’s means stepping up.

Way easier to rock out if you’re not a physical wreck.

Let’s get mosh fit 🤘🏻💪🏻

Normally i wouldn’t post progress photos after only a week.

Usually I can’t see a single difference but I’m already noticing little improvements and definitely looking leaner.

If this is what I can do in a week, the next 12 hold a lot of promise.

An absolutely jam packed social calendar to navigate in that time though…..

Calories and steps staying the same for the next week plus no cardio thank f*ck

Why am I even bothering to diet when Download Festival is next week?

When I get back from Download I’ll still have 11 weeks to get in shape for my summer holiday.

Is anyone else dieting now ready for summer? Who else is going to be at Download Festival?
