🐴 A Quick Request to Help Keep Our Horses Healthy

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Centre for events and time spent with us.

Following recent veterinary advice regarding cases of strangles in the local area, we're asking for your support with a few simple precautions to help protect the health and wellbeing of all our horses.

If your horse has visited an affected yard, or has had contact with a horse from an affected yard, we would be grateful if you could postpone your visit to us for the time being.

As many horse owners will know, strangles can be spread through direct horse-to-horse contact, but also indirectly via shared surfaces, equipment, and even our hands and clothing. One of the earliest signs of infection is a raised temperature, so we would encourage all horse owners to monitor their horses carefully and take regular temperature readings, particularly if there is any concern about possible exposure.

To help minimise any risk, we'd kindly ask visitors to:

✅ Avoid petting or handling horses that are not their own
✅ Wash or sanitise hands regularly while on site
✅ Follow any biosecurity guidance provided by our staff
✅ Keep horses away from perimeter fencing where possible, particularly around the outdoor arena
✅ take your horse's temperature before setting off to us and postpone your visit if your horse shows any signs of illness

These simple measures can make a big difference while still allowing everyone to enjoy their time with us.

The welfare of our horses is always our top priority. As many of you know, the Centre has faced some significant challenges in recent times, and protecting the health of our horses is essential to ensuring we can continue providing our services and remain open for everyone. For that reason, we must all remain vigilant and work together to minimise any risk of infection.

We are incredibly grateful for the support, understanding, and cooperation of our wonderful riding community. Together, we can help keep our horses safe, healthy, and happy while ensuring the Centre continues to thrive.
