🏆 Irish Cup Semi Finalists! 🏆

Massive congratulations to Banbridge Bowling Club and Portadown Bowling Club on reaching the semi-finals of their respective IBA Cup competitions yesterday! 👏

💚 IBA Senior Cup
Banbridge produced a superb performance to overcome top NIPGBL side Old Bleach (Randalstown) by an impressive 80-60 scoreline, winning by 20 shots. They now face another formidable NIPGBL opponent, Belmont, for a place in the final.

💚 IBA Junior Cup
Portadown booked their semi-final spot with an excellent 83-62 victory over Brookgreen (Coleraine). They will now take on PSNI, another strong NIPGBL side, in the last four.

📅 Semi-Finals
Both matches will be played at a neutral venue on Saturday 22nd August, with a place in the Irish Cup Finals at stake.

Finally, commiserations to Annalong, Bangor, and Rathfriland, who all bowed out at the quarter-final stage after giving a great account of themselves.

Best of luck to Banbridge and Portadown as they look to reach the finals! 🍀🏆

RECAP

Last week Four NIBA players proudly represented the Irish ☘️ Para Bowls team this week in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Representing NIBA were our very own Honorary General Secertary Tom Evans (Holywood), Elizabeth Thompson (Castleton), Michael Reid (Finaghy) and Gerry Simpson (Curran).

The Irish team produced an excellent performance to finish third overall, recording a historic achievement by defeating England in a session for the first time ever, as well as beating Wales twice during the tournament.

Tom enjoyed an excellent competition, winning two of his three singles matches. Teaming up with Keith Tinney in the pairs, they also won two of their three games together.

Congratulations to Elizabeth, Michael, Gerry, Tom and the entire Irish squad on a fantastic week. A brilliant achievement and a proud moment for NIBA! 👏

New dates for all affected fixtures will be announced in due course.
