Back where we belong!

With podiums evading the team in the ’26 SRK Endurance series’ opening 2 rounds, despite the opportunity & pace, Rd3 felt like the least likely. Given the relatively easy layout of Brighton, it would come down to consistency, pit stop & traffic management. A change in line-up lead to some further unknowns with Lewis Smart stepping in for Hugo as he moved house.

The dynamic team tactics came into focus following a quick track walk to guide Lewis around a new circuit for him. Practice contained an extended session for Lewis to get to grips, a short blast which left Alex uneasy with the kart & closing stint where Zack gelled with it quickly. The times were close but the top 2 teams seemed clear of the rest, SCR sitting P2.

Zack took the first leg where the speed took a little while to build, the grove proving harder to find than in practice. This said, the 40-minute shift passed quickly, as did Zack on the heavier traffic that started ahead rising 7 places from P9 to run P2 & set the team’s fastest lap of a 43.4.

Nothing goes without a hitch & following a smooth handover to teammate Alexander for stint 2 the kart came to a halt 2 corners in. A drive belt had shredded itself & left us with no drive from the engine to the wheels. The Brighton team did a superb job to get a fresh kart out & filter us back out into the correct place on track. The 2-lap loss was quickly reverted to how things were before. Alexander continued to see out his stint professionally with just-lapped traffic to manage.

The final stint saw Lewis take the wheel. His first laps for SCR were steady & he was reassured by the gap the team had built until this point. Lewis was fast & rightly measured in the traffic, unwilling to take any unnecessary risks to compromise the progress made. This led to a few nervy closing laps for the SCR onlookers as P3 closed in. A blissfully ignorant Lewis crossed the line just 0.5 ahead at the end of the 2-hour race.

Lifting the Lydd!

Round 6 of Club100 superlight weights saw Oskar make the trip to the coast to the track of Lydd. This was Oskar’s debut at this track and practice saw him settle down around the mid-pack mark. A poor kart meant Oskar struggled to make headway in his qualifying session and he qualified P13 in the C Final.
The C final started well with Oskar launching from 13th to 10th on the first lap. As the laps flew by Oskar gradually reeled in more and more places until he was battling for 3rd, swapping places back and forth with 4th place until he emerged victorious in 3rd at the end of the race.

Following this great performance, Oskar put it on pole for the C final. He lead the field off from the top spot but sensibly surrendered the lead on the opening lap following a good move from behind. A wise decision to keep out of trouble paid dividends as he maintained second throughout the race to secure promotion to the B final.

Starting last in the B final meant Oskar had nothing to lose and everything to gain. In a kart he was happier with and settled into the rhythm of the track, Oskar made good progress chasing down the pack ahead before picking positions off lap by lap, steadily rising through the ranks. With his eyes on those in front, he set the fastest lap up to that point only for this time to be beaten on the final lap and he finished P17.

Don’t flip your Lydd!

Rd6 of C100 Lightweight Cadets came from the waterfront that is Lydd; a fast thrash of a circuit with lots of medium speed challenging corners that require poise to master.

Practice was looking incredibly promising with Oliver putting the tips from his briefing straight into action with an excellent session. The second fastest time lodged, a 47.856, which topped the times for a good while before being usurped at the end.

Frustratingly this pace couldn’t be replicated come qualifying. If it had, it would have guaranteed a top 10 start in the A. Oliver’s lap, a mere 3 tenths down, left him P12 in the B final demonstrating just how tight the top national championship in the UK really is.

Similarly to the juniors event that ran parallel to the cadets, the starts were chaos with the first chicane offering a hot bed of loading & spins. Oliver was caught out by this in the pre-final dropping from 6th row start back to P18. Calmness prevailed though & Oliver started his march forward, making 2 spots up by lap 3 which led to a swapping match in the mid-pack. A battle that Oliver emerged P15 from on lap 4 before pursuing the pack ahead. A 4-lap pursuit ended when Oliver took 3 drivers to run P12 on lap 8 but the pack retaliated offering him 14th by the next pass. A move for P13 stuck with 2 laps to go & here Oliver stayed until post-race penalties were applied which bumped him up to P11. An improvement of 1 despite the tricky start.

The B final offered an opportunity for redemption as Oliver launched from P9. A mirror of the earlier final occurred as Oliver fell 5 spots amid early jostling. Here he stayed until lap 7 when he came under attack from behind losing another 3 places. This refocused Oliver who fought back. An incident at the front handed Oliver 2 places before a last lap dive elevated him to P14 on track. Post race penalties put him P12.

A rocky day with a fair amount of could have beens. The pace was there and then it wasn’t. The times were close & the racing tight. Oliver learnt plenty & the team will learn from the footage too. If you’re looking to keep calm & carry on karting, check us out at

BIKC Locals – SCR Progress Report!

A brilliant showing from the SCR squad across the local BIKC qualifiers, with 4 of 5 drivers earning their place in the next round.

- Oliver delivered a superb day at High Wycombe, strong in practice and qualifying before fighting hard in the A Final. Junior regionals await.
- Ethan was rapid from the outset in Bristol, converting P1 qualifying into a confident run through the A Final to secure progression in his first competitive junior race.
- Archie showed determination at Eastleigh, battling from mid pack to secure his qualification spot with pace that kept improving session by session. He set his PB twice to advance in the lightweight category.
- Leo put in a composed performance at High Wycombe, running solidly inside the top five all day and sealing his place in the next cadet round.
- Albert, despite missing out, absolutely had the speed. His pace was comfortably within the qualifying bracket — the luck simply didn’t fall his way when it mattered. A tough result, but a performance that deserves real respect on a circuit that was so tight on times.
Overall, a hugely positive set of results for the team, momentum building nicely, and plenty to look forward to as the regional stage approaches. This feat is made even more impressive given that Ethan & Oliver have only just moved up to Juniors from Cadets, surpassing their expectations with their superb performances. With a mixed level of testing going on amongst the drivers our expectations are realistic going into regionals; it’s going to be tough but we know each driver will certainly be competitive & won’t go out without a fight.

Target Met!

Rd6 of the C100 Junior championship came from the southerly Lydd. A pleasant day welcomed Jamie for the second toe dip into the pool of lightweight juniors. The target was clearly set in the briefing earlier in the week of making the B final to demonstrate tangible progress after Jamie’s first foray earlier in the calendar. An achievable but tough challenge on a circuit that offers incredibly tight times & racing.

Jamie struggled a little in practice, enough to reach out for feedback from the team boss to diagnose where the majority of time was being lost. With the advice fresh in the memory Jamie set about his target of qualifying directly to the B final. SUCCESS with a 6 tenths improvement placing him P13 in the session & P9 for the Prefinal B, just 4 tenths off the fastest time. Target achieved!

The good news ended quite abruptly at T1 of the pre-final as the loading pushed Jamie wide forcing him down the order 10 spots. The confidence knocked & another few places lost on lap 2. The fight didn’t go & Jamie scrapped with those at the rear to finish P19 after penalties.

There was hope going into the B final as the lap times at the front of the field were the same as Jamie had achieved in quali so we knew we were competitive. Unfortunately, Jamie was denied the opportunity to use it as he was levered out of the way from his P17 start. A small gap left on the inside of the left hander was filled by the pack behind pushing Jamie wide & over a kart in the other starting lane ruining both races. Jamie got going again some way off the pack & struggled to rediscover his pace. Problems for others classified Jamie P21.

A bittersweet day, but one that Jamie can be proud of, showing clear improvements from last time out & doggedness in the little racing he was afforded. Sadly, the camera policy limits the learning we can make from the issues off the start. We’ll keep moving forward with attention already on the next event where the target will be higher. Gladiator School! - Afternoon

The afternoon of CCJKC Rd4 was pleasantly warm. Edie was the sole SCR representative & benefitted from the photographer getting on track to chronicle the progress. The results were as follows:

Edie was fast, converting all her front row starts into great results. Pace isn’t enough when coming through from the back & the progress stalled a little with tough competition blocking the way. Following her PB last time out she has raised the bar of her own expectations & despite a penalty early in the B final she’s happy that she’s now consistently operating at this level. If we could convince her to run her camera, we’re certain she could be challenging for podiums in no time.
