What started as a bit of fun has somehow gathered a bit of momentum, so we've decided to roll with it.

At Kings Sports Bar, we're always looking at ways to become a bigger part of our local community.

We're looking to work with 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀, 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 who support children and adults alike who are looking for somewhere different to spend a few hours together.

To provide the best experience, we're looking to offer these visits during the daytime, before 5:00pm, when the club is much quieter. This allows us to provide a more relaxed atmosphere, guaranteed tables, and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves.

Yesterday, Kings played a small part in a 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗩𝗘 day of sport, and some of the talent associated with the club absolutely smashed it.

Both finalists were Kings-sponsored players!

🏆 𝗟𝗲𝘄𝗶 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 continued his ridiculous run by winning his 𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗛 U15 Tour in a row, beating the hugely talented 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻 in the final.

Another all-Newport final and that made it 𝟰/𝟰 finalists associated with Kings across the first two events.

Oscar defeated an in-form 𝗥𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 in the final, meaning he won 𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗛 tours he entered yesterday.
​
An incredible achievement and a real indication of just how well he's playing at the moment.
​
Shame he can't do it up MWSC in a doubles match, mind. 😂

And then there's 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗹𝘆𝗰𝗼𝘀 — the original horse of the Kings Stable. 🐴👑

He only went and won the darts tournament!
​
Harley beat some incredible players along the way, including 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱, which tells you everything about the level of competition he had to come through.
​
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆. ❤️

The talent these youngsters have is genuinely scary and we're incredibly proud to play even a small part in their journeys.
​
We're under no illusions — 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹. Their talent, hard work and dedication is their own. But if we can provide a venue, support, sponsorship and a platform that contributes even 1% towards where they're heading, we're delighted to do it.

And finally, a massive mention for the people who can sometimes get forgotten — 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦. 👏

In all my years playing pool, I genuinely don't think Newport has ever had a bigger crop of young players regularly travelling and competing outside the city.
​
But equally, I don't think we've ever had a bigger group of parents prepared to give up their own time, travel around the country and do everything they can to give these youngsters the opportunity to compete.
​

Saturday also marks 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗿'𝘀 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆.
​
Normally that alone would be a reason for a massive celebration. This year, however, we're bringing together several things that mean an enormous amount to us and to people within our community.
​
We'll once again be hosting 𝗥𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗽, bringing together two huge parts of Newport's pool history and remembering people who helped make that community what it is.
​
It means Saturday will be a strange mixture of celebration and remembrance.
​
We'll be celebrating 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, celebrating friendships and the community that has grown around the club, raising as much money as we possibly can — while also sharing stories and remembering some very special people who aren't here to celebrate it with us.
​
