Can anyone help this girl?

Hi! I am posting with a slightly odd request, if there was anyone around the Belfast area or close by who may be able to help.

I adopted my dog, Fergie, back in January and he has come on leaps and bounds. Very recently I have discovered that he is reactive to Bernese Mountain Dogs, I’m not sure if this is from a bad past experience etc. but I would like to try to safely help him if it’s possible.

We have worked on a lot of his excitement with other dogs over the past few months using long distance reactivity training. However, we don’t run into Bernese Mountain Dogs often at all so it’s rare that I have a chance to do this with him.

So, if there happened to be anyone in or around the Belfast area, who may be happy to have their dogs leashed in a safe area at a distance from my dog, also leashed, it would be a massive help.

Of course, this may not work but I think it’s worth a try. Obviously, I will go with a trainer in the long run if we can’t figure this out ourselves but it’s not really in my budget right now.

Just by way of a quick update, as many of you know, our application for a Certificate of Lawfulness was submitted to the council at the beginning of May. This application is to establish that the continued use of the land as a secure dog field is lawful.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and taken the time to offer advice and encouragement throughout this process. We really appreciate it.

We'll keep you updated as the application progresses and will share any developments as soon as we have them. Thank you again for your continued support. Hopefully no news is good news.

Please continue to get in touch should you require any natural dog treat boxes made up or any recommendations on walkers, sitters, trainers etc, I’m always here to help out if I can.

Quick update for everyone:

We’ve now liaised with the Council and are in the process of submitting a Change of Use application, along with evidence demonstrating continuous use over a period of more than six years. With a bit of luck—fingers and toes firmly crossed—we’re hopeful for a positive outcome.
