Spartak made their return today against Kingsthorpe Mavericks and despite the standard drop outs on the morning we made a good start and found ourselves a goal up with a well taken finish by now Mavs player Kiwi Norton. We came close to another as cramps majestically brought down a Snorts long ball but his effort landed on top of the bar. One of many chances for crampy 😉 Mavs finished the half strong and forced a save from Simmo before equalising on the stroke of half time.
Mavericks had the legs on us in the second half and with players starting to drop the home side soon found themselves 3-1 up with Kiwi getting one for Mavs having swapped sides at the break.
However, with just 5 minutes to go Spartak found a second wind…. Inspired by Max Winterburn who pushed forward and firstly got one goal back before adding a last gasp equaliser.
A great game and all the best to the Mavs in the coming season. Same time next year???

The time is almost upon us….. A Spartak Legends team will return to take on Kingsthorpe Mavericks this Sunday.
After a few player announcements over the past week or so, HERE IS YOUR FULL SPARTAK SQUAD

With time running out we have a second player reveal for our Legends team this weekend and its Dan Komianos!!!
Just shy of 100 appearances and played the majority of this in defence but also played a big part in our title winning season where he regularly played in goal. Just don’t ask him to play right back 🤕

Not long now until Spartak return for one game only vs Kingsthorpe Mavericks and our latest player announcement is the youngest member of the legends team Reece Drage. 8 goals in 48 goals and a Player of the Season award during his time with us.
Due to him becoming the latest to join the Mavs it could be 45 mins for each team….. and he’ll be a key part for them this season.

Max Winterburn is our latest call up to the Legends side who will be taking on Kingsthorpe Mavericks this Sunday morning at Malcolm Arnold School.
Max joined the club when the Saturday team was formed and remained with the side for the next decade and totalling up 133 appearances. During that time he helped the Saturday team to three cup finals.

6 days to go and we can announce our next returning Legend who will be taking on the Mavericks this weekend. Midfielder, committee member and briefly Sunday reserve team manager, Ashley Moreton who is also placed 4th on our all time appearance list.

We have todays addition to the Legends team and another with a century of appearances & over a decade of service. Robbie Hillery was skilful and loved a turn or two….. he would beat a player two or three times just so he could throw in another Cruyff!!!
Also just as much of a legend on a night out as on the pitch….. just have to say shoe and Hakamo’s 😉😉

Just a week away from our Spartak Legends taking on Kingsthorpe Maverick’s and we have a double Legend player announcement and arguably two of the best to pull on the Spartak jersey!!
Briscoe was simply unplayable in his early years highlighted by scoring a hat trick on his Spartak debut. If not for numerous injuries and filling in at left back in our title winning season he surely would have finished with even more goals!! In 2012/13he joined Kiwi & Matty Silecchia in a lethal front 3 who combined for over 100 goals in just one season.
Everyone loves Jimmy!! Multiple player of the season award winner and midfield engine who could always pop up with a goal or two and loved a free kick.
Roll on next week!!!

Can’t wait to see our next returning Legend bombing up the right hand side vs Kingsthorpe Mavericks next Sunday after almost a decade away. Ben Howard was an integral part of the Sunday team throughout the early days but after a serious knee injury Sunday League footy took a back seat.
Certainly going to good seeing Ben back in a Spartak shirt!!!!

Here is todays legend and it doesn’t come much bigger (not in height though)!!!
Liam ‘Kiwi’ Norton spent 14 years in the red and black and 13 of those he filled the role of club chairman, playing a big part in helping the club become what it did.
His highlight coming in 2019 when he bagged both goals in the 2-1 win vs Rushden in the final game of the season to see Spartak win the league by a single point. Our only ever trophy…. It had to be Kiwi that clinched it!! The last minute penalty from that game is in comments….. he almost had it saved 👀👀

The next man to come out of retirement is forward Frazer Francis and had a decent goal ratio. Frazer also managed the Sunday Reserves to which he narrowly missed out on leading them to a league title (dubiously may I add).
We couldn’t do a Frazer Francis post without including his cup final free kick…..see comments

Fan favourite Sam Leighton will be returning to the red and black this August for our Legends team vs Kingsthorpe Mavericks.
Quality centre half after kindly filling in there on his debut and was then stuck there for the next decade….. couldn’t change a team that beat league favourites 5-0!!!!
Leighton was ever dependable and co-captained the Sunday Side to the Nene League Championship title in 2018/19 season.
His mum supplying half-time oranges were just an added bonus!!
