“What’s this inner layer for?” - a double waisted touring jacket allows you to layer your spraydeck and create a dryer experience when more exposed to conditions.

A double layer waist is more of a consideration for kayakers using a spraydeck; particularly from this time of year where protection from the elements, warmth and comfort makes being out in the cold much less of an issue.

If you are a paddle boarder or not using a spraydeck, a double waisted touring jacket often comes with a few extra features like latex wrist seals, extra layer material and an inner neck seal. These do make winter paddling a much more pleasant experience 😎
