It was a proud day for GBPRLA Men's representatives Ross Moir and Louis Senter on Saturday who played for Scotland RL clubs against Ireland RL clubs.

It was a cracking game with scotland narrowly getting beat 38-30. Ross and Louis both putting in strong try scoring performances but they fell just short.

Merseyside Police 16–30 Culcheth Eagles

Never-Say-Die Merseyside Fall Short in the Heat

On a scorching, sunny day, Merseyside Police Rugby League travelled to face Culcheth Eagles with just 13 players available, knowing from the outset that it was going to be a demanding afternoon. Culcheth Eagles are an established community rugby league club with an Open Age side, and the conditions made the challenge even greater.

Despite being severely limited in numbers, Merseyside showed tremendous character from the opening whistle. The game ebbed and flowed throughout, with both sides enjoying periods of pressure and momentum.

Merseyside refused to be overawed by the numerical disadvantage and continued to battle for every metre. Reid and Morris led the way with committed performances, while captain Langton showed great leadership, continually driving his side forward and refusing to let the scoreline dampen the team’s spirit.

Lou was also amongst Merseyside’s standout performers, contributing strongly in a game that demanded huge physical and mental effort from every player.

However, as the heat took its toll and the lack of replacements became increasingly difficult to overcome, Culcheth were able to capitalise and eventually establish a 30–10 advantage.

But Merseyside were not finished.

With the final whistle approaching, captain Langton produced a moment of brilliance, breaking away for a sensational 70-yard try to give Merseyside a deserved reward for their never-say-die effort and bring the final score to Culcheth Eagles 30–16 Merseyside Police.

While the result ultimately went against Merseyside, the performance was about far more than the scoreline. With only 13 players, every member of the squad was required to dig deep, and nobody gave up.

Man of the Match – Nolan

The Man of the Match performance was epitomised by Nolan, whose relentless strong running and refusal to take a backward step perfectly summed up the attitude of the Merseyside side.

Nolan carried the ball hard, repeatedly putting his body on the line and giving his teammates something to build from. His performance embodied the spirit shown by the whole team: never say die, never give up and keep fighting until the final whistle.

Despite the 30–16 defeat, Merseyside Police Rugby League can take plenty of pride from the afternoon.

A huge congratulations to GBPRLA men's representitives Ross Moir and Louis Senter who have been selected to represent Scotland Clubs V Ireland Clubs.

The game is this saturday 22nd August at Edingburgh Academicals.

Hot off the press, the newly formed Merseyside Blues are in action next Saturday 22nd August 14:30 KO at Culcheth Eagles Shaw Street, WA3 5EU.

Next up on the domestic scene is Combined Lancashire Police Rugby League v Crosfields ARLFC

Bank holiday weekend Saturday 29th August with a 14:30 KO.

Next up for our GBPRLA Men's team after the summer break is a mouthwatering clash with the England Fire & Rescue team.

It will be played on Sunday 27th September at Featherstone Rovers ground with a 15:00 KO. Plans are afoot to make the the day a special event with curtain raiser fixtures and a host of activities in the planning - further details will be released in the coming weeks.

Merseyside have been continuing their renaissance in the recent weeks with a training session and a shirt presentation evening being held this week at Portico Vine ARLFC

Following the summer break the team will continue progressing with further training sessions and then games against Combined Lancashire Police Rugby League and West Yorkshire Police Rugby League

All teams are continously looking for new players so if you know someone who plays rugby league and is serving or joining any force and isn't yet involved then get them to make contact.

Members from West Yorkshire representing all 3 of our sections Womens, Men's & masters had a great time yesterday at the Cops & cars event at The Motorist which was run by Benjamin Pearson "Interceptor" raising funds for 1965 PTSD Awareness.

Alfie the lion pulled a truck and made lots of new friends whilst giving plenty of goodies out and met the legend that is PC Tony Stamp from the Bill Graham Cole Obe

The event raised over £7000 for the charity and was a brilliant day.
