‼️ Yesterday, Henry Coates made history by becoming just the fifth player to win a PDC Players Championship title, without a tour card!

Coates, 20, defeated the likes of Bradley Brooks, Christian Kist and Damon Heta all with 100 plus averages to seal his first PDC senior title in Hildesheim!

Just a short seven years ago, Coates was winning a qualifier for the JDC Super 16 Grand Final, and would go on to add further JDC titles before winning his first Development Tour title in 2024.

Coates is now well placed for further returns to the Pro Tour and even a debut at the PDC World Darts Championship in December!

What a story for one of our own! 👏

🎯 COMMUNITY DAY OUT: PENCOEDTRE HIGH SCHOOL FOOD & FUN! 🎯

​We had an absolutely fantastic time this morning over at Pencoedtre High School in Barry for their summer Food & Fun programme! It was a privilege to give back to the local community, showing new children how to play and sharing the joys of this fantastic sport we are all so passionate about. 🎯

​A massive shout-out and huge thank you to our brilliant academy players who came along to help run the sessions: Archie Melhuosh, Dylan Person, Drew Bowen, Jack, Theo, and Evan Green! 🌟

​We are so incredibly proud of every single one of them. They represented the academy setup with total excellence and stepped up so naturally into mentoring and coaching roles with the students. Safe to say, they definitely earned their well-deserved McDonald’s treat afterwards! 🍔🍟

​We also want to give a huge thanks to coaches Russell Everton and Andrew Jones, as well as the players who gave up their Thursday morning and time to support the community. We truly couldn't have done it without everyone's help and dedication.

A bit of reflection from me….
As we head into our Summer break in a few weeks I’d like to celebrate the fact that there is some incredible Junior darts being played in Wales right now, after the last 3 JDC Seasons where we have had World Cup Qualifiers, Nations Cup Qualifiers, Girls championship, Girls series is ongoing and today the Regional Volts finals, and the JDC Wales Academy Masters in September I can hand on heart say that I am so excited for the current tournaments we have this year and next year the talent pool will be even bigger as we now currently have 23 Academies in Wales which is 100% growth since this time last year.

The Academies are created and run by amazing people and attended by passionate players and supportive families. It’s incredible.

It all makes a great recipe for the future for us here in Wales… to think that 2 years ago now there were only 3 Academies… it has been a huge learning curve being the lead for JDC Wales for nearly 2 years coming Sept..the leap from Year 1 to year 2 was huge, but this year into next with Wales having players achieve Advanced Tour Cards, embrace the Foundation Tours, JPL, etc and having winners in these events was beyond anyone’s thoughts even 8 months ago… we had to plan our tournament structure well in advance for this year but it will have to change format again for 2027 to accommodate the success of players, the Academy system growing and the pure passion, commitment and unmistakable talent we have here in Wales… we will have 2 Tournament Directors to work alongside us soon so it’s exciting to plan for next year…

Today as with all the tournaments, even though there was some big emotions in all of these tournaments and it’s evident that these players have huge pride in their playing and playing for their Country really means something…..I love that..

Thank you to every player, every parent, every academy lead and their coaching teams, their wider communities that support them, may we continue to grow on this path together… May JDC Wales continue to flourish…it’s absolutely not easy at times leading the way and so much goes in in the background that many of you don’t see, but just know that I will always push and plan to get the best opportunities for everyone, as to say I am immensely proud of each one would be an understatement…

You are my heroes, every one of you!
