What a weekend! 🛶

A brilliant two days on Paddlesport Touring Leader training with a great bunch of paddlers. Plenty of laughs, a fair bit of water in places it shouldn't be, and lots of learning about how to look after a group on a journey: planning, leading, reading the water and keeping everyone smiling.

Thanks to everyone who came along. You were a pleasure to coach, and we can't wait to see you lead your own trips.

Fancy it yourself? There are still spaces on our next Touring Leader training on 2–3 November, with more training in January and assessments on 30 Nov–1 Dec and 10–11 Dec.

Huge congratulations to William and Jessica, who both passed their Paddle UK Paddlesport Leader assessment on Coniston on Thursday! 🎉

They led a mixed group of canoes, kayaks and SUPs really well, with sound judgement, good rescues and great group care. A big thank you to our brilliant mock students, who gave up their day to be led around the lake.

‘Excellent days tuition. How to read river, rapids. Boat control, how to put the boat where I want to be. Myth busting, e.g. where hands go on paddle, moving boat not paddle. Learnt more effective paddling. A fun day, smiling going down rapids 😀😀. Given self-practice to work on.’
