🧡 This September, we’re proud to be supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK at our Annual Open Day.
September is Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month, and this year we’re using our Open Day not only to celebrate our riders, horses and ponies, but also as an opportunity to raise awareness of muscular dystrophy and the incredible work of Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Muscular dystrophy and related muscle-wasting conditions affect thousands of people and their families.
We’d really encourage our Talygarn family, friends and followers to take a few minutes to find out more about the charity, the conditions they support, and the difference they make to those living with them. Even simply sharing information can help raise awareness. 🧡
You can find out more and get involved here:

And of course, if you’re joining us at our Annual Open Day on Sunday 13th September, we’d love for you to come along, support our riders and help us raise awareness for this important cause. 🧡🐴
Sometimes raising awareness starts with simply taking the time to learn.
Please take a few minutes to visit Muscular Dystrophy UK, find out more about the work they do, and share their information with others. 🧡
Together we are stronger - Muscular Dystrophy UK We connect a community of more than 110,000 people living with one of over 60 muscle wasting and weakening conditions, and all the people around them. So everyone can get the healthcare, support and treatments needed to feel good, mentally and physically.

📣 HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! 🐴💙
We’re just 5 days away from our 2026 Open Day! 🎉
And we’d love your help to make sure we can fill the place with as many people as possible to cheer on our incredible riders, vaulters and most importantly, the true stars of the show - our horses and ponies! 🐴⭐️
Our horses and ponies are at the heart of everything we do at Talygarn and they’ll be taking centre stage this Sunday in what promises to be a brilliant afternoon of performances! 💙
So please SHARE our poster far and wide — with friends, family, local groups, neighbours and anyone who loves horses! 📲
Let’s create the biggest audience we can, so our riders can feel the support from the crowd and our amazing four-legged teammates get the applause they deserve. 👏🐴💙
The more people we can bring together, the bigger the cheer for the true stars of Talygarn! ⭐️

🐴 FROM FERAL TO RIDDEN! 🐴
Over two mornings, members of Talygarn Equestrian Club got the chance to experience the process of backing a horse (using our incredibly well-schooled horses as guinea pigs).
We simulated each stage of the process, giving members the opportunity to get hands-on and experience what it takes to build a partnership with a horse from scratch, gain their trust and prepare them for ridden work.
From catching, handling, tying up and leading, through to desensitising, lunging and long-reining, members worked through the different stages before progressing to leaning over and finally getting on. 🥰
Along the way, members learnt how to read their horse, recognise their reactions, build trust and develop clear communication at every stage.
The aim was to give everyone a safe environment in which to experience the process, understand why each stage matters and appreciate just how much preparation goes into producing a confident, willing ridden horse. 💪🐴
And, of course, our very patient guinea pigs took everything in their stride! ❤️
A brilliant couple of mornings of learning, getting stuck in and developing skills beyond the usual riding lesson. 🙌
