Exciting announcement for Shinfield Rangers Fun Club sessions in January.
In response to changing demand and circumstances, and to ensure that Fun Club sessions go ahead regularly, the Club has asked U-Sports to work in partnership with the Shinfield to run the Sunday Fun Club.
U-Sport will be supported by club coaches, but also will provide the opportunity for current Fun Club parents to experience what it is like to coach sessions, with the hope that some parents will become coaches in the future.
In order for this partnership to take place, we will need to raise the cost of the sessions to £5. This will still be paid by card/QR code on arrival at the session. The timings of the session will remain as 11.00am - 12pm at Ryeish Green Leisure Centre aka Oakbank 3G
4 to 6 years olds boys and girls. (F2 to Yr1)
Our Fun Club sessions are an important part of Shinfield Rangers FC which help fulfil our commitment to the local community but also provides players to feed into our grassroot teams.
If you have any questions or queries, please do get in contact.
Shinfield FC Committee
Happy New Year..!
Firstly, a huge thank you to all our Coaches, Managers, Refs and everyone currently involved with Shinfield Rangers Football Club during the first part of the 22/23 season.
We are shortly about to start the second half of the 2022/23 EBFA Grassroots (boys), BCGFL (girls), TVWFL (women) and as always, we need your help for the club to continue to flourish and grow.
We are looking for additional support in a variety of roles for the remainder of this season (Jan thru May 2023) and planning for the start of the next 23/24 Season, which commences from September 2023.
Shinfield Rangers are specifically looking for :
1) Committee Treasurer (+Assistant) – Responsibility to manage Club subscriptions and oversee all financial record keeping.
2) Committee Kit Manager – Responsibility of club kit: Team Kit, Balls, Training Aids etc
3) Committee Welfare Officer (+Assistant) – Responsibility of overseeing and resolving welfare issues as they arise.
4) Team Managers / Coaching – responsibility positions to help run existing teams, or the creation of new teams. Training and mentorship will be given.
5) Tuck Shop Helpers – looking for individuals who can spare and couple of hours on a Saturday morning (as and when, to go onto a rota) to help run the tuck shop at the 3G to help drive additional funds into the club.
In the background, we have several children on waiting lists and requirements for additional help as highlighted above. Examples of activity currently ongoing: liaison with local companies for club sponsorship, working with Wokingham Borough Council and Shinfield Parish Council to resolve training and match facilities – including floodlights. Continued liaison with EBFA, BCGL, TVWFL, FA and numerous other 3rd party organisations.
You will be wondering how much time do I commit – the answer is of course some, but if you are intrigued, keen to help and want to discuss further, then please drop me an email at [email protected] and I can direct to the appropriate committee member for further discussion.
Our kids love playing football and it’s down to parents and volunteers to make it happen.
Thanks for reading, happy new year and look forward to hearing from you.!

‘Bulldozing’ of wildflower meadow to go ahead after university plan approved A controversial plan to ‘bulldoze’ a meadow and build two sports pitches in Reading has now been approved.
Hi All …. We are getting pretty desperate for help with football refereeing on a Saturday morning - to the point where the kids games may have to be cancelled.
It’s an unfortunate problem to have with growth of grassroots across both boys and girls at Shinfield Rangers FC.
We have had a positive intake of a couple of new ref volunteers since the last outreach - but we need help for a couple of hours on Saturday mornings (which is paid for) across numerous age groups. If your 14 years and above and want a great Saturday job for a couple of hours - get in touch.
We can help with development plans, mentoring and have some fun with it.
Please get in touch via messenger or email [email protected] for more information.

A massive shout out to the Shinfield Rangers FC Ladies team who reached an impressive benchmark of 20 league games without defeat - after a resounding 4-0 away win v Caversham this weekend.
Well done ladies..!
Shinfield Rangers have joined forces with Spencer’s Wood where between both clubs, we have been given permission to run the Tuck shop / Cafe from the little window near the 3G pitch, from 9am to 1pm every Saturday morning for our home games. We are splitting profits 50/50.
To make this work, we need volunteers from across our club to help out every now and then.
ASK : Anyone that maybe willing to give some time this Saturday 24th September (an hour, two whatever they can do) 9am to 1pm to support and sell tea/coffee/hot chocolate crisps / snacks and maybe even bacon butties this week..!
Anyone that comes forward, please email me [email protected]
There will be a similar ask each week moving forward.
Longer term, we will be offering the opportunity for some of the older kids the option for this to be a Saturday job, where we will pay for their services. We are not quite there yet on that, as we are waiting for the final agreement of minimum age from Places Leisure Ryeish Sports head office.

Saturday Job opportunities: Shinfield Rangers FC Referee’s
Are you 14 years and above and want a slightly different Saturday job than your friends? Or an adult that would like to substitute weekly earnings of up to ~£80 for ~4 hours fun.?
Shinfield Rangers FC are looking for grassroot football referees to help across all age groups U7s to U16s for our home matches between 9am and 1pm that take place at Ryeish Green Sports Hub on 3G Astro and grass pitches on a Saturday morning.
You are paid for each game you referee. Referee fees start from £16 per game (40mins) to £28 per game (60mins)
Shinfield Rangers FC have embraced the ethos, where each week, at every home game at the Sports Hub, a member of Shinfield Rangers FC Committee will be visible with a fluorescent bib, with who will check with the refs at that start of every game, half-time and full time to make sure all is well - to provide appropriate support, guidance and own any escalations, so everyone involved: players, parents and helpers all enjoy grassroots football.
Take a look here at the initial training requirement, which take just over an hour to complete: FA Referee Course (thefa.com) For those interested the Club will support your growth and development with additional training opportunities as needed.
https://www.thefa.com/get-involved/referee/general-information/the-fa-referee-training-course
Official fees for each Grassroots Football game are listed here: Referees (eastberksfa.com)
