Three Mile Cross Bowling Club

The annual President vs Captain’s match is always a special occasion for our club.

This year, the teams were led by Club President Claire Morrison and Club Captain Debbie Bissett — marking the first time in the club’s history that both the President and Captain have been female.

The afternoon began with the traditional ‘Spider’ competition, followed by 18 ends of bowls played in glorious sunshine. Afterwards, players and guests enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the clubhouse, along with a game of ‘Heads & Tails’ and a raffle.

It was great to see some of our new bowlers in action at the club. Dave, Andrew, Helena, Dave, Maria, Colin, Jeanette and Jim took part in our new bowler’s pairs competition. Congratulations to the winners, Maria and Colin and runners up, Jeanette and Jim. It was a very close final that went to an extra end to determine the result.👏🏻

Well done to Linda, Diane and Claire who played in the Berkshire County Ladies’ Triples Final and came runner’s up today! 🏅👏🏻👏🏻
Congratulations to the Desborough team on their win!
As finalists, both teams will represent Berkshire at the National Finals at Leamington later this month.

The club’s annual Ladies vs Gents match was full of fun and friendly rivalry. As it was extremely hot this year we wore casual clothes to help keep cool. We also had a break half way through the game to enjoy ice creams 🍦😊
After the game we enjoyed a delicious buffet tea in the clubhouse and a raffle.

🏆Ken Baker Trophy🏆

We played the Ken Baker Trophy match against Suttons Bowling Club this weekend. In the past this fixture was played by men’s teams, but this year it changed to mixed teams.
Congratulations to the TMX team, who won back the trophy this year! 👏🏻👏🏻

🏆George Palmer Memorial Shield🏆

We played our annual match against Hungerford Bowling Club this weekend. The fixture is played in memory of George Palmer, who bowled at both clubs.
Congratulations to the TMX team, who secured victory this year and bought the Shield back to Three Mile Cross! 👏🏻👏🏻

Twenty of our members enjoyed taking part in the Bill Barfoot Open Pairs Competition. Well done to the finalists Margaret, David, Linda and Adrian. Congratulations to the overall winners Margaret and David! 🏆🙌🏻

Congratulations to our Club President, Claire Morrison, on her selection to play in the Berkshire team for the first of the Johns Trophy matches.

The Johns Trophy is Bowls England’s inter-county outdoor competition for women’s teams 🏆

Berkshire take on Hampshire at Thatcham Bowling Club on 6th June.

We wish Claire and the Berkshire team every success for the match!

We had a fun ‘Yardstick’ game for members at the club. Points were scored for all bowls within a yard of the jack. Congratulations to the overall winners David, Eileen and Sue and runners up, Alan, Andy and Peter! 👏🏻👏🏻
We enjoyed a great barbecue and delicious desserts after the game 🍔🌭🍰
