Last week, Sidmouth won the East Devon Trophy!

Our golfers overcame local rivals Axe Cliff, East Devon and last year’s winners, Honiton, to win the annual four-club match.

Each club fielded a player in the ten fourballs, with the best six scores from each club counting towards the final total. When the sums were done, Sidmouth emerged victorious with an impressive 211 points, comfortably ahead of runners-up Honiton on 192.

Following a well-earned and thoroughly enjoyable meal as the groups returned, last year’s winning captain, Sam Phillips of Honiton, presented the trophy to Sidmouth's happy captain, Hugh Dorliac. The presentation is pictured.

It was a great day, a great result, and another trophy safely back in the Sidmouth trophy cabinet!

Our Seniors Team were in action against Axe Cliff this week, and, while the final result didn’t quite go our way, they did manage to produce something rather more impressive: two holes-in-one in the same fixture, away from home!

John Arnatt aced the 7th, before Adrian White clearly decided that one hole-in-one wasn’t enough, and promptly did the same on the 18th.

Those holes aren't exactly straightforward par 3s either, with both tees and greens sitting on opposite sides of the valley at Axe Cliff. So, a huge congratulations to John and Adrian on their fantastic achievement.

This really doesn't happen every day, so we thought it was worthy of a mention!

Thank you to View 66, our amazing club caterers, for sponsoring Hole 9!

Hole 9 is the last hole played before you turn around for the second 9, so a good score can make or break your front 9. It's a pretty hole, with the approach played through a gap in the trees. Position from the tee is the key to leaving a clear shot to the flag. Please check the fairway is clear on this hole before you tee off.

Our buggies have brand new GPS 🛰 systems!

The new GPS units were fitted at the end of August, and make the buggies look cooler than ever before 😎!

GPS will improve the buggy driving experience and allow us to better manage the fleet. We can also send important messages to you including about course conditions.

The new system is especially helpful for course management, as it will indicate the current preferred routes for buggies, taking account of greenkeeping work etc...

We expect that system will take a little time to settle in, so your feedback would be really helpful. The shop has feedback forms available, and we’d really welcome any comments or suggestions that would help us improve the buggy driving experience.

Moray Bosence and Ken Mylne are our Monthly Draw winners!

Moray won 12 Titleist Pro V1s, whilst Ken won Titleist Tour Softs and a SGC shoe bag. Remember, all winning tickets remain in the draw, so you'll still be in with a chance of winning future monthly prizes, as well as prizes at our Grand Draw in December.

December's breath-taking top prize is a golf holiday in Portugal for 4 people! There are other incredible prizes up for grabs too...

You can still buy tickets in the draw for £5 each, 6 for £25 or 13 for £50 either at the bar or via bank transfer. It really is worth entering, as you're in with a chance of winning big, and all proceeds help the club.

Our course tour is now in its 8th week, so its time for Hole 8! ⛳

This is a long par 4. A good tee shot between the two groups of trees is essential. The ground rises sharply to the green - plenty of power is required to tackle the increase in elevation. The green itself has a challenging lie too. On the white and yellow tees, Hole 8 is SI 1.
