Not being “flexible enough” for Pilates is a bit like saying you're too dirty to have a shower.

You don't need to arrive able to fold yourself neatly in half.

Pilates is about working with your body – building good quality movement patterns, improving mobility and understanding and most importantly appreciating how you move.

So if “I'm not flexible enough” has been your reason for putting it off, consider this your sign to retire that excuse. 😉

Can you relate?

So, why does alignment matter? 👀

As you can see in the video, we’re looking for certain points in the body to be STACKED – helping your weight to be evenly distributed and your body to find a naturally balanced position.

The key word here is **naturally**. Over time, maintaining good alignment shouldn’t require lots of effort. It’s a position our bodies are designed to find.

But life can have other ideas. Sitting at desks, spending hours on our phones and the habits we pick up along the way can affect how we hold ourselves, contributing to imbalances, weaker muscles and aches and pains.

That’s one of the things we work on in Pilates – building the strength, awareness and control to help your body find better alignment without constantly having to think about it.

And yes, sometimes we wobble while we’re finding it. And that’s OK!

Your Pilates sessions don’t end when you leave the studio! Do you use Pilates in your day-to-day life?

A reminder that your Pilates sessions don't end when you leave the studio!

Do you use Pilates in your day-to-day life? 👇

Things I hear in the studio… 🤭

And yes, sometimes this sound effect is just part of the Pilates experience 😂

No need to feel embarrassed, apologise or pretend it didn’t happen. Bodies make noises. Especially when you’re moving, twisting and putting your core through its paces.

So if it happens, it happens. We carry on. No judgement, no shame – just Pilates.

Honestly, it probably happens more than you think. 👀

As a Pilates teacher, my job is to guide, notice, observe and encourage you.

It’s knowing when to challenge you and when to ease off. When to push you a little further and when to simply meet you where you are.

That comes from getting to know you – how you move, how you respond and what your body needs from each session.

Your job? To focus, explore and learn.

What's your favourite part of your Pilates sessions? Don't say "Rolling your mat back up." 😂

Hey men 👋

Did you ever stop to think about the fact that **Joseph Pilates was, in fact, a man?**

Yep. The Pilates method wasn’t invented for yummy mummies in matching leggings. It was created by a bloke who was pretty serious about strength, movement and looking after your body.

Pilates can help with core strength, mobility, balance, posture and body awareness – whether you spend your days at a desk or on a building site, and everything in between.

So lads, you’re welcome too 🤝

And don't worry – there’s absolutely no requirement to own a Stanley cup, wear Lululemon or know what a block is before you walk through the door. 😂

Come and give it a go. You might even enjoy it! Tag a man who needs to come to Pilates... 👀

Summer sizzle week 3 🔥

It's all about the dart! Go for at least 10 reps of each move, but remember to take a moment to return the spine to the floor before doing the next move if you're feeling the burn too much. Watch out for lower back ‘compression’ pain and rest out if that’s the case.

Let me know how you get on!
