If it is found early, bowel cancer can be treated successfully. This Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, take a look at the symptoms and share with your loved ones 💚
The bowel is part of the digestive system. The term bowel cancer is normally used to talk about colon and re**al cancer but it can also be used when talking about a**l, small bowel, and anore**al melanoma cancer.
Changes that could be a sign of bowel cancer include:
🟢 Blood in or on your poo.
🟢 Change in your normal bowel habit that happens for no obvious reason and lasts longer than three weeks.
🟢 Unexplained weight loss.
🟢 Pain in your tummy or back passage.
🟢 A feeling that your bowel is not properly empty after going to the toilet.
🟢 Unexplained tiredness, dizziness or breathlessness.
Bowel problems are very common, so these symptoms may not be caused by cancer. It is still important to get them checked out by your GP. Do not feel embarrassed to speak to your doctor about your symptoms. Conversations like this are part of their everyday job.

Calling all knitters and crocheters! Can you help Hampshire Constabulary make teddy bears to hand out to children who are involved in incidents of domestic abuse?
If Tom Daley has inspired you to get into knitting, you may be able to help us with our latest appeal.
We’re asking members of the knitting community to help make more teddy bears to hand out to children involved in incidents of domestic abuse.
Previously, we were inundated with offers of help and they’ve been so popular that they’re we’re running low.
The police officer bears, which are knitted by volunteers, are given to children to help us communicate with them and break down barriers that can exist when we attend after a domestic incident.
Detective Sergeant Adam Merrick, said: “We were so lucky to have had so many people help us previously and the bears were really well received. These little bears really do help to provide comfort and reassurance to young children when we attend an incident they have been involved in or have witnessed, and can help break down that initial barrier.
“Not only do they reassure the child, making it easier for us to talk to them and find out what has happened, they also help to distract the child if we are trying to talk to their parent.
“The children who receive these bears would have been through a lot and would be recognised as a victim of domestic abuse in their own right under the new Domestic Abuse Act. Being able to greet them with this small gesture really does make a difference and helps put a smile on their face at a difficult time in their lives.”
If anyone would like information on how to get involved with knitting these bears, they can find the patterns in the link below. Finished bears can be handed in at your local police station.
