Really proud to be sharing this!! One of my clients Kerry is taking part in this absolutely amazing race.
Kerry came to me over 10 weeks ago with a broken leg, needing a training/rehabilitation plan to get her on her feet (no pun intended!) to take part in this extraordinary race! Kerry trusted the process and was focused and determined, whilst we trained at Holly Hill Leisure Centre.
I am so proud of the effort and how far Kerry has come and I wish her and team all the best!
Good luck team!
Hi! Did anyone take their children swimming last Wednesday and pick up the wrong black school shoes? My son’s Nike size 3 trainers / school shoes were taken and a pair of adidas trainers were left! If you were there please can you check you have the correct shoes as I’d hoped they’d have been returned by now ☺️
The most commonly asked question just now is 'Do you have space for my child at Half Term?' YES WE DO!!! We currently have plenty of space on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so please do come and join us!
The second most common question is 'Which activities do you offer?' Lots! They include dodgeball, archery, boxing, football, cricket, tri golf, nerf wars, benchball, tag rugby, team games and more!

I am delighted to be able to announce that the Fareham Borough Council leisure centres - Fareham Leisure Centre and Holly Hill Leisure Centre - are now offering free 12-month memberships to Ukrainian refugees.
We know that sport and physical activity is a welcome slice of normality for refugees, as well as a good way to get involved in local communities. We hope to support the individual and family’s physical and mental wellbeing and to support them to adjust to life in the UK. We understand that gym membership may not be one of their first priorities, however this is a practical way in which we can help support these individuals.
There is a link here for the sign-up process
https://www.everyoneactive.com/promotion/ukrainian-refugee-free-membership/
On their first visit to the leisure centre, the individuals will need to provide a copy of their government email which details their “Port Reference Number” which will be made up of 3 letters/7 numbers i.e. ABC/1234567, all should have received email confirmation of this, as well as written confirmation in the post. Sponsors are very welcome, should individuals require additional support with translation, for example, on their first visit.
This initiative is at no cost to Fareham Borough Council.
I am pleased to announce that a wheelchair swing has been installed at Holly Hill play area, next to Holly Hill Leisure Centre
This ‘integration swing’ complements the existing range of inclusive equipment at Holly Hill play area such as a roundabout, sensory play panels and a basket swing for children as well as an accessible picnic table. It allows the operator to use the suspended rope and pulley to swing themselves or have someone else push them to create the motion.
Alexandra Bufton, whose daughter Doris is a wheelchair user, said: “This is so exciting to have a wheelchair swing at our favourite park! My daughter is very sensory, and she loves movement. A swing is one of her favourite activities but due to her disabilities it is difficult to lift her from wheelchair to swing.
“I am personally so grateful to Fareham Borough Council for ensuring that disabled children have the same opportunities as other children. This will change the lives of so many wheelchair users of all ages. Holly Hill play area is the perfect setting as it caters for children of all ages and, personally, I love being able to grab a coffee!”
The swing is specifically for the use of those in wheelchairs and will be locked to ensure that it is kept safe. Those wishing to use the swing can access it using a RADAR key, which can be requested from the Council by calling 01329 236100 or emailing
[email protected]
A key will also be available all day, every day from the Holly Hill Leisure Centre reception desk. The leisure centre also features equipment for all ages and abilities, accessible parking, and a fully accessible Changing Place facility.
I would like to thank Alexandra Bufton and of course Doris as well as Kirstie from The Disability Union as without their inspiration and positive support this, the first of the Borough's wheelchair swings, would not have happened. I am pleased that they are going to work with us to identify opportunities at other play areas across the Borough for such equipment.
I am very pleased to be able to announce that both Fareham Borough Council leisure centres - Fareham Leisure Centre and Holly Hill Leisure Centre - are offering free membership to Parkinson's Disease sufferers and, if required, their carers. This is a fantastic opportunity for people living with Parkinson's to realise the undoubted benefits of exercise and swimming.
This is an ongoing membership that includes Gym, public swimming, group exercise classes, online Dance Synergy and the NHS approved physical activity prescription app, EXi.
As the past President of the Fareham and District Branch of Parkinson's UK I am particularly delighted to be able to make this announcement as we approach World Parkinson's Day next Monday. Details are here

Please can you put extra zumba classes on, preferably evenings? The 3 classes are always full so the demand is there. Thanks! 🙏
WHEELCHAIR SWING TO FOR HOLLY HILL PLAY PARK
I am really pleased that Fareham Borough Council is installing a wheelchair swing at Holly Hill play park, situated next to Holly Hill Leisure Centre. It was lovely joining Cllr Sue Walker today to meet 2-year old Doris Bufton and her mum Alexandra. Doris loves coming to Holly Hill and the new swing will make her visits even more enjoyable.
Responding to feedback from local residents, an ‘integration swing’ will be installed shortly to meet the needs of wheelchair users. The swing allows the operator to use the suspended rope and pulley to swing themselves or have someone else push them to create the motion. The swing will add important play value to the play area which already features a range of inclusive equipment such as a roundabout, sensory play panels and a basket swing for children as well as an accessible picnic table.
The swing can only be used by those in wheelchairs and will be locked to ensure that it is kept safe. Those wishing to use the swing can access it using a RADAR key and residents can request these by calling the Council on 01329 236100 or emailing
[email protected]. A key will also be available all day, every day from the Holly Hill Leisure Centre reception desk. The leisure centre also features equipment for all ages and abilities, accessible parking, and a fully accessible Changing Places facility, making the Holly Hill play area the ideal location for the wheelchair swing.
This is an important step to make our play areas as interactive and inclusive as possible, so that all children can play together. This swing closes a gap for people who find it more difficult to participate at public playgrounds.
Alexandra said "The thought of having an accessible swing at Holly Hill play park is so exciting! It is our favourite park as it caters for all ages of children, my eldest loves the gym equipment as well as the zip line, the parking is fantastic with lots of disabled spaces, and it has a lovely natural ‘outdoorsy’ feel to it. To be able to let Doris join in will be incredible. To give a child with sensory issues, who is normally stuck in her wheelchair, the movement and feeling of freedom will be wonderful.”
I look forward to welcoming Doris back to try out the new swing.
