Today's match summary

Calderbreas 3
Maroons 2

The boys signed off their 25/26 campaign with a barnstormer this morning, narrowly edged out by a very late Calderbreas goal but losing absolutely nothing in defeat!! Two good sides went toe‑to‑toe today, and the travelling Maroons support were treated to a game that had just about everything...

Calderbreas came flying out the traps, pressing aggressively and forcing an early corner that they converted from after just five minutes. Their early momentum continued, and a speculative long‑range effort dipped wickedly to make it 2–0 a few mins later. Not the start we wanted but our response was outstanding!

We made an early change, introducing Harry, and this transformed the game. The lads began to get a good foothold, and on 28 minutes Joe ⚽️picked up possession on the left, drove forward, and unleashed a stunning 22‑yard strike past a terrific goalkeeper 🤩. Both sides had several big chances in the first half, with Jasper producing several superb stops to keep us right in it.

So 2–1 at half time but a real sense momentum had swung our way…

Seven minutes into the restart, top scorer Ray ⚽ reacted quickest in the box to poke home the equaliser👌. At 2–2 the Maroons were now just about in control. But today wasn’t just about the result, it was about giving meaningful minutes to our 18‑player squad. We made five more changes and rested our 75 (plus) goal strike force with twenty minutes to go. The lads who came on kept the tempo high and the chances kept flowing for both sides…

It soon became a bit of a slugfest... two teams trading blows, both pushing for a winner. Eventually, with just three minutes left, Calderbreas poked the ball home following a dubious free kick. To add to the frustration, the boys were denied a penalty just moments later when Oli was taken out in the box. On another day, we take something from the game and a draw would have been a fair result. But football doesn’t always give you what you deserve...

What mattered most was the performance. The boys showed what they are made of today💪

MVP: JASPER 🧤🧤

Huge thanks to Calderbraes 2010 Whites FC for hosting. We chased them hard all season but were never really able to get on terms fixture wise. That said, they are a cracking side and fully deserve their league title.

Well done lads... enjoy your summer and we go again after a well earned break! 🩵♥️

Today's match summary

Cambuslang -1
Maroons - 6

Today’s match was a strange one to describe, some brilliant football (at times), six goals, and some of the most baffling refereeing we’ve seen all season 😇

The lads started sharply on a tight pitch and struck early. Mason delivered a superb ball across the face of goal and Ruaridh ⚽️ nipped in on 6 minutes to continue his incredible scoring run. Cambuslang settled and asked a couple of questions, but Rory ⚽ finished brilliantly side-footing home high into the net after another Mason assist to make it 0–2. Against the run of play the hosts pulled one back, and despite us hitting the bar and carving out several big chances, it remained 1–2 at the break.

We used the bench at half‑time and the impact was instant. Ruaridh ⚽️ grabbed his second straight after the restart from a Ray assist. Ray ⚽ then scored a lovely goal on 50 minutes after a nice Joe pass. Four minutes later, Ray ⚽️ added another, a cheeky chip to finish a brilliant team move 👌 And on 80 minutes, Ruaridh ⚽️ completed his hat‑trick to seal a dominant 1–6 win.

The scoreline only tells part of the story. We hit the bar twice, created a stack of really good chances, and we probably should have had at least two, if not three, penalties today 😵‍💫

Midway through the second half today we learned that Calderbraes had beaten Motherwell to clinch the league title and deservedly so. One league defeat all season and winning both league‑specific cups is just outstanding and we tip our caps to them 🫡

But our boys pushed a very good side incredibly close. It’s a shame we can’t take the title race to the final day, but second place is still a superb achievement in it's own right and our own consistency would have won this division most seasons 👊

The boys also just put right two earlier season slip-up's against Camelon (loss) and Cambuslang (draw) by beating both inside three days 💪

MVP - Ruaridh ⚽️⚽️⚽️👏👏👏

Thanks to our pals at Cambuslang for hosting... enjoy your summer when it comes guys! 🤝

Well done lads… one more to go next week when we play champions Calderbreas away on Sat. We know the assignment 👍 ♥️🩵
