Monday Social Run: Preston Park

Sometimes, all you need to start your week off on the right foot is a nice little run out with the club, and tonight certainly delivered!

It was a properly muggy one out there! We kicked things off from the beautiful grounds of Preston Park before heading up past the old railway lines.

The route threw a fun little challenge at us tonight as we had to navigate our way through some seriously overgrown bushesโ€”giving the run some real jungle vibes.

Then the final km bringing an unexpected twist. A sprint race up the hill under the tunnel (bridge?)

A massive thank you to Greg and Paul for guiding the group and leading the way tonight. And, of course, a special shout out to Vince who we have now started to follow in his cool downs ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Next Week's Run

We'll be at Avenue of Trees, Hall Drive

Great running tonight everyone. Make sure you get plenty of water on board after that sticky, muggy session, and we will see you next week! โšชโšซ

On the 25th July it will be 10 years to the day that we sadly lost our club member Keith Webber.
10 years ago the parkrun community and MCH members paid a memorable tribute to Keith at Albert parkrun.
We would like to invite all runners/supporters and volunteers to come and join us once again to celebrate the memory and legacy of a true champion of our club and the running community.
Keith ran Albert Parkrun 203 times in a best of 21:48. 10 years ago he was training for a marathon that sadly he never got to run!
Many people in the community will know Kath Webber who is Keiths Mum and she will be there as ever in her volunteering spot up at the top gate.

Please come along to 'Keith's run' on 25th July Parkrun

Monday Social Run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

What an absolutely massive turnout tonight! I ran out of fingers and toes to count the number of you who showed.

We kicked things off with a classic Tees Barrage start, taking a trip down memory lane along some of the old Park Run route.

The main aim of the run was to go check out the New Waterfront Park. A brilliant little addition to the normal route (where a few of us couldn't resist having a go on the slideโ€”can confirm, it was great! ๐Ÿ›).

It was a sad moment having to leave the fun behind. Back to the running we went, round the canals and a cheeky sprint finish up the hill to get back to the start line!

๐Ÿ™Œ No Runner Left Behind

A massive shout out to our fantastic run leaders tonightโ€”Greg, Paul, and Andrea.

They did a cracking job covering all abilities across the front, middle, and back of the pack. As always, they proved our club's golden rule: no one gets left behind.

It was another great run out with some truly amazing people. Same time next week? We will see you there! โšชโšซ

Weekend Round-Up - Outstanding business ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

It is officially safe to say that we are a club that simply does not stop! From the regular Saturday morning Parkrun grind to incredible personal milestones, this weekend has been one for the books.

โ›ฐ๏ธ The Hardwolds 40

While the rest of us were enjoying a standard weekend of running, Paul Wilkin was off doing exactly what he does best... A cheeky Ultra

At this point, we are fairly certain Paul just needs a VIP annual admission pass to the Hardmoors events. Saturday, he took on the Hardwolds 40... which was actually a rather sneaky 47 miles!

He conquered the route, and heat, crossing the finish line with a phenomenal time of 12:10:25

Paul is an absolute hero when it comes to the Hardmoors series.

Let's not forget that just two years ago he picked up his award for completing 1,000 Hardmoors Miles. Now, he is deep in the trenches of the 2026 Superslam, and absolutely smashing it. With this weekend, that's the 30, 55, 110 & 40 complete with the 60 in September. He'll not be too far off his 2,000 miles soon.

What a phenomenal weekend for the club. Whether you were crushing a 5k, getting inducted into a Sporting Hall of Fame, or running 47 miles just for fun (fun for those not doing it), you are all doing the club so proud! โšชโšซ

Yesterday our very own Jo Atkinson and long time member of M&C was inducted to the Leeds Beckett University Sporting Hall of fame. This was a great accolade for Jo who represented Great Britain at 2 x Olympics, World Champs, European champs and various other competitions. Jo had a superb career including Gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and she is still the British Record Holder for 20k Race Walk. Jo studied at Leeds whilst at her peak in sport and had access to excellent facillities.
Now retired from racewalking, Jo still regularly competes in running events for us and attends our Monday Social run on occassion.
We would like to congratulate Jo on this recognition of her outstanding career which hopefully inspires others to fulfil their dreams.

It is time for our usual weekend round-up, but this week we are kicking things off with a little midweek trail before diving into the Saturday morning Parkrun action.

Here is how everyone got on:

โ›ฐ๏ธ Thursday: Muddy Roads Lordstones

Before the weekend even arrived, three of our runners headed out on Thursday evening to tackle the Muddy Roads Lordstones race. If you have ever run this route, you know it is arguably one of the most beautiful places we have in the North East to run!

22:54 - Vinny Mullan (Hot on Andrew's tail!)
30:05 - Claire Murphy (Fantastic running on a tough course!)

๐Ÿ“ Albert Park (The Home Turf)

20:16 - Vinny Mullan (His second strong race in three days!)
20:57- Reece Atkinson
21:00 - Adam Poole
21:00 - Mark Jackson (A dead heat on the clock with Adam!)

Amazing running from everyone this week. Rest up, grab a well-earned treat (BBQ time?)

We're back to start our week on Monday meeting at Tees Barrage for a run to the new Waterfront Park! โšชโšซ

3 of us took to the NYM last night for the Tom's Bransdale fell race. 8 miles of the usual hills, spills and a tiny bit of mud! Most of the elevation is within the first couple of miles so your lungs are busting before you hit some thin trod paths. These are difficult to navigate as there are hidden boulders and heather to trip you up. Really hot night for running, but there were nice shady bits and actually some welcome breeze up there. Andrew stormed up the first hill and was never to be seen again (dont worry he did finish ha ha) with a superb run. Mark found the thin trods difficult to negotiate, but enjoyed the run on his comeback trail on the fells and Martin had a bit of an off night but got it done all the same. The reward at the end was bbq sausage buns that went down a treat. Well worth the hour drive out! Many thanks to our driver Martin too. Really recommend this race as its beautiful and full of challenge.
Sadly we were one short of a team so if fell running has peaked your interest then come and join us. We would love to have you on board.

Monday Night Social Run

What an absolute cracker of a night in Redcar! A massive well done to the 20 runners who joined us tonight. From our own club members, our resident Monday Social Runners and our new faces ๐Ÿ˜

As we expected, it was a seriously warm and sticky evening out there. The brief couple of minutes of rain was welcomed with open arms! It was the perfect natural cooldown right when we needed it most.

We were also treated to some fantastic little supporters waiting for us at the halfway mark! Seeing their smiling faces and hearing the cheers definitely gave everyone a massive boost and brought a huge smile to our faces, and not something everyone gets on a run out.

Get some fluids on board, enjoy your evening, and we'll see you at the next one, which to a change of scheduled events will be at the new Waterfront in Stockton - Who'll be going down the slide first?
