When you’re standing over a putt on the new 17th green, you probably won’t give much thought to what’s underneath it.

But there’s a lot going on before a single seed is sown. Drainage, stone, levels and plenty of work to make sure the green doesn’t just look good, but drains well, responds well and, most importantly, plays well.

AMG Golf Renovation Ltd are managing the renovation through to the sowing stage, when our greens team will take it from there.

Most of what you’re seeing here will soon be completely hidden from view.

Your handicap will thank us later ⛳️

We’re still talking about yesterday’s brilliant Lilac Golf Day at Swaffham.

Such a fantastic turnout in support of Big C Cancer Charity continuing a relationship that goes all the way back to 2005.

Thank you for choosing Swaffham to host the day, and to everyone who played, helped, donated and made it such a good one.

90+ golfers, plenty of laughs and a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.

Have a swipe through — you might just spot yourself!

What a day for it 💜

A full field, a busy Clubhouse and a halfway house absolutely bursting with treats (and a rather good ginger punch).

Blue skies, a gentle breeze, a lovely bunch of golfers and even a fly-by from the RAF.

Not a bad way to spend a Thursday.

A brilliant Lilac Golf Day, all in support of Big C Cancer Charity

Mid-week golf at Swaffham.

Sometimes the best rounds are the ones squeezed into the middle of the week.

18 holes, a good test of your game and plenty of reasons to stay for a bite to eat afterwards.

If you’ve been meaning to come and play Swaffham, consider this your reminder.

10 days in on the 17th ⛳️

If you've played at Swaffham over the past week or so, you'll have seen plenty happening on the 17th.

Ten days into the works and there's been a considerable amount of progress, with the scale of the project really starting to become clear.

There's still plenty to do, but we'll keep sharing updates as the work continues and the new-look 17th begins to take shape.

A photo opportunity we were very happy to oblige!

Charlie and Ian from Swaffham Area Community First Responders stopped for a quick photo at the club after being out on a call.

Hopefully you’ll never need their help, but how reassuring to know that appropriately trained volunteers are giving up their own time to respond to medical emergencies and support people in our local community when they need it most.

If you’re not already following Swaffham Area Community First Responders, please do. Give their page a follow, show them your support and help more people locally understand the important work these volunteers do.

And thanks for stopping for the photo, Charlie and Ian!

We received some touching feedback today, from the sister of a patient who was attended by our first responders:

“I wanted to thank the first responders who came to my sister recently at her house, suspected heart problems and she’s since been referred to papworth. Thank you for attending.”

Sending best wishes and a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹 with Charlie and Ian on shift tonight from 18:30 - 22:30.

Torrential rain on the journey there… thankfully, much better conditions by the time the golf started!

On Friday, 26 Swaffham ladies headed to Diss Golf Club for Captain Liz Hackett’s Away Day.

The individual Stableford went right to the wire, with Jan McGourty taking the win on countback from Julie Ellis, both finishing on 33 points.

Jane Delanoy also had a successful day, taking both the lowest gross score on the back-nine par 5s and nearest the pin.

A big thank you to Diss Golf Club and all their staff for looking after everyone so well — a thoroughly enjoyable Captain’s Away Day, despite the rather soggy start!

If you’re a regular at Swaffham, you’ll have noticed there’s a bit of work happening around the 17th.

We’re currently undertaking some major improvements to the 17th green – part of our ongoing work to improve the course and the playing experience for everyone.

Temporary arrangements are in place around the 2nd, 17th and 18th while the work progresses, with the rest of your round played as usual.

It’s a little short-term adjustment for what will be a significant improvement to the course and we'll share more as the work progresses ⛳️

A great feature on our Course Manager, Colin Hutt, and the work that goes on behind the scenes here at Swaffham.

Managing a free-draining course with limited irrigation certainly has its challenges, particularly after the exceptionally dry conditions we’ve seen this year.

Great to see Colin sharing how a measured, long-term approach is helping us look after the course and continually improve the playing surfaces. ⛳️
