After days of rain, the sun was shining finally for the last day of the European Orienteering Championships. Returning to Petroskos forest for the relays, athletes now raced head-to-head through the dense Lithuanian forest. In the women's relay, team GBR finished in 17th place, while the men's first team finished in 18th place - with both securing the 11th nation spot in their respective classes.

The European Orienteering Championships returned to the Petroškos forest, Lithuania for some middle-distance racing. Much like the long-distance event, the map was highly detailed with contours at 2.5 metres. The courses presented tricky planning in dense forest. Many of the international favourites suffered significant time loss. Great Britain’s best performance came again from Simon Harden with a 28th place finish; his best World Cup result to date. 💪🧭

Today saw the long-distance final at the European Orienteering Championships in Lithuania. As with the qualification race, athletes faced intricate contour detail shown at 2.5-metre intervals. However, the map was far greener, and the low visibility made losing map contact far more punishing.

Great Britain’s standout performance came from Joshua Dudley, who finished 32nd in the Men’s A final, closely followed by Simon Harden in 33rd. Meanwhile, Matthew Gooch secured an additional spot in Saturday’s Middle-Distance A-final thanks to a top-10 finish in today’s B-final.

5 GB athletes qualify for the European A finals! 👊

The opening day of the European Orienteering Championships in Lithuania served as qualification for both the Middle and Long finals. Despite plenty of contour detail, the 2.5-metre interval increased vagueness on the ground. Combined with low forest visibility, athletes faced tricky terrain where relocation was tough.

Simon Harden was Great Britain's top performer with an impressive 5th-place finish, alongside Ralph Street, Joshua Dudley, Grace Molloy, and Imogen Pieters, who also secured their spots in the A finals.
