🌊 With Drown Prevention Week coming up, we’re offering a FREE taster session for our Rookie Lifeguard Programme! 🏊

The Rookie Lifeguard programme is an exciting and educational way for children to expand their water activities and learn valuable lifesaving skills.

✅ Learn how to stay safe and enjoy the water
✅ Make new friends through teamwork and peer support
✅ Develop vital life skills
✅ Build confidence in the water
✅ Gain independence

If your child is currently in, or has previously completed, Stage 7 or above and would like to give Rookies a try, please call reception on 01635 871112 or pop in and speak to a member of the team 🌊🏊

As the sun is shinning ☀️, it’s so important that we all help keep children and young people safe in and around water 🌊

Drowning can happen quickly and silently — even to strong swimmers.
What to do if someone’s in trouble in the water:

❌ Don’t jump in after them — you could get into danger too.
✅ Call 999 immediately for emergency help.
✅ Throw something that floats — like a football ⚽ or lifebuoy 🛟 — and tell them to hold on.
✅ Encourage them to kick their legs to move toward the edge or safety.
Water is powerful and deserves respect.

🗣️ Helen Marney, Director of Community Participation and Health at Swim England, highlights the importance of swimming lessons giving children the skills to be safe in the water, she said:

"Every summer, families head to the water together, and every summer, tragedies occur that could have been prevented. We want to change that.

Swimming lessons are not just a childhood milestone, they are one of the most important things a parent can do to keep their child safe and not just in the pool, but on holiday, at the beach and around open water.

If your child is not yet in lessons, start now. If they are, keep them going, water confidence doesn't happen overnight, but when it does, everything changes for your child, and for your whole family." 💙
